Diamond M StoryThe Diamond M Story - Over 100 Years of Excellence.

Rugged and Durable for over 100 years

Mallory traces our history to the late 1800’s, when F.B. Mallory Co., based

in Portland, Oregon, was a major manufacturer of logging blocks. Some

5’ tall by 4’ wide, rugged and durable, and all stamped with the Mallory M

inside of a Diamond. These blocks were beefy workhorses built to lift heavy

logs (think of an oversized pulley) and were advertised as “built stronger

than seems necessary”. Our catalog from the early 1900’s is displayed in

the Smithsonian now.

Safer….. More Productive

Mallory transformed into a safety focused company in the 1970’s with the

rise of OSHA, and an ownership change to the Loy family. We continued to

use the M inside of a Diamond as our logo. As we sought to manufacture

our own line of safety products, we decided to tip our hat to the 100-year

legacy of quality manufacturing.

Rock Solid and Innovative

Our logo is an updated compliment to our traditional Diamond M, the M has

been designed to represent the Mountains of the great Pacific Northwest.

This modern look symbolizes the forward-thinking nature and stability of

the Diamond M product offering.

Design from Experience

Our goal is to improve product design to many of the products in the

Diamond M line. Our offering will represent the best performance and

value in our industry, providing the ultimate personal protection to every

one of our customers. We have some patented fall protection products,

and many exclusive to Mallory products. We ensure each item is built at

least a little stronger than seems necessary, in sticking to our founding

principles.

Product Education and Understanding RegulationsHow do I choose the right coating for my gloves?

There really is not one single glove that provides the "perfect" solution for all applications. It is nearly impossible for an organization to standardize on a single type of glove material without encountering resistance. Each of them offer unique advantages but, at the same time, each of them comes with a certain amount of compromise in terms of barrier protection, financial impact, comfort, etc.

♦ Universal Grip (UG) Diamond M has introduced this newest addition to the coated category. Constructed of PVC foam, the Universal Grip offers protection, dexterity and grip in wet, dry and oily conditions. The first coated material to do so.

♦ Polyurethane is a thermoplastic elastomer that provides exceptional comfort and tactile sensitivity as well as puncture, tear and abrasion resistance. Contains no latex and is resistant to degradation by ozone, fuel, oil and many solvents.

♦ Nitrile has become more popular in the past several years and offers excellent tear resistance and chemical resistance and great dexterity and tactile sensitivity.

♦ Vinyl an economical alternative to latex, has been around for many years but in general may be associated with reduced barrier protection due to its susceptibility to tears, breakage and pinholes compared to latex.

♦ Latex has long been the benchmark standard for fit, feel, comfort, strength and barrier protection. This coating offers outstanding abrasion, cut and puncture resistance.

ANSI / ISEA 105-2016: The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has released a new edition of the ANSI/ISEA 105 standard – 2016. The changes include new classification levels, which includes a new scale to determine the ANSI cut score and a revised method for testing gloves to the standard.

The new ANSI standard features nine cut levels that reduces the gaps between each level and better defines protection levels for the cut resistant gloves and sleeves with the highest gram scores.

The ANSI / ISEA Z87.1 standard and OSHA: Why the standard is important:

ANSI / ISEA Z87.1-2015 Standard. It was developed by the Z87 Committee on Safety Eye and Face Protection, which is administered by the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA), and approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

♦ OSHA adopts ANSI standards, thus making them regulatory requirements.

♦ OSHA currently has adopted three versions of ANSI Z87.1 as compliant with regulatory requirements: Z87.1-2003, Z87.1-1989 (R- 1998) and Z87.1-2010.

♦ The ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015 continues to focus on product performance and attempts to harmonize with international standards while keeping the needs of the end user in mind with consideration to workplace hazards and regulatory obligations.

♦ There are 2 main categories of Safety Vests that meet ANSI standards: Class 2 and Class 3.

♦ What are the differences between Class 2 and Class 3 Vests?

♦ Class 3 vests have sleeves and are designed to provide great visibility during intense weather such as hurricanes or blizzards, or to be worn by emergency personnel and traffic teams working on freeways and highways.

♦ Class 2 vests are designed for moderate risk: school crossings, parking lots, traffic direction. Because of the less stringent requirements, they are smaller than Class 3 vests.
