RESEARCH: Specialised in plant ecophysiology, freshwater ecology and wetland ecology and management. Focus is on the
ecophysiology of aquatic plants and biogeochemical cycling in wetland ecosystems. The research involves studies
on ecosystem, community and the individual plant level, and is currently focused on assessing ecophysiological
characteristics of invasive species and invasive biology, and global change effects on coastal marsh ecosystems.
Applied aspects of the research involve the use of natural, restored and constructed wetlands for water purification.
