Where can you find such an old place in a modern country like Singapore, you ask? Look no further than the residential district of Taman Jurong.

Right smack in the middle of two modern HDB flats you’ll find a 51 year old HDB flat more commonly known as the 'H-Shaped' flats. Blocks were built in pairs each linked by bridges making it look as though the blocks were in the shape of the letter H, hence the name.

Let me provide you with a brief history of this place. You better not flip the page yet hor.

It's 1961. Picture jungles, kampongs and swamps. This was what Jurong was like back then. It did not have basic things such as telephone lines and electricity, not even running water. Not to men-tion this place was highly inaccessible. That was when the Jurong Town Council stepped in and decided it was time for industrialization.

These flats you see here were the first estate flats that were built back in the 1960's by JTC ( Jurong Town Council ) to provide convenience to their workers. Cool or what? These blocks went through en-bloc in the year 2006 under HDB’s (Housing Development Board) SERS scheme and by 2010, the very last residents moved out.

Then, nature took its course. Now you can find ferns growing out of the cracks on the walls, rusty old-school grills, broken windows and of course, the graffiti art.

But wait, there’s more to this than meets the eye. There have been multiple stories being circulated around among the residents of Taman Jurong. Try walking pass this few blocks of flats, I assure you would go like, “This is so creepy man!” The atmosphere and tension surrounding the flats just adds on to the fear. You would get this uncomfortable feeling like someone is watching your every move.

There’s nothing like a scary ghost story surrounding your area to spice up your evenings. It seems like the most leading spooky tale would be the lady in white. Many said that there have been sightings of her looking out from the creepy broken windows. To add on to this tension, I have also heard that many have spotted a small kid found to be playing along the corridors at different levels of the flats and also at the playground just right behind the block of flats.

MANY HAVE SPOTTED A SMALL KID FOUND TO BE PLAYING AT THE PLAYGROUND.

We all know that Singapore has become a modern country and we can hardly find any old flats around. Thus, this would be the best chance to go get

nostalgic and view this unique JTC flat where it used to be a

happening place once a upon time.

So ghost hunters, what are you waiting for? Let the darkness send shivers down your spine and find out for yourself what have been making the strange noises in those creepy flats. This could be the last opportunity for you!

Go and visit the place before it gets demolished or some organisation takes over that place. For shutter bugs, there are many interesting angles for a shot and you could help preserve a piece of Singapore’s history with your pictures.
