One of the vital ministries of the Red Bird Mission is the Red Bird Clinic. Many of the residents of this remote, rural area would have difficulty receiving needed care without the work of this clinic. The Health and Wellness ministry provides medical and dental services in an area that is chronically under served. In addition to in-clinic visits, the providers travel to the homes of patients to provide care for those who are home-bound.

Your donation is urgently needed to support these vital ministries. The Mission is currently facing a financial cri-sis that is making it difficult to continue all the areas of ministries they provide. Please mark your check(memo line) or envelope: Red Bird Mission. Thank you!

—Jean Alderman

Be encouraged that staff is still working and ministry is still tak-ing happening in the life of our church. We are so grateful for

our church family and their generosity as we contin-ue to pay our bills and navigate this unusual time. There are several giving options for your tithes and offerings: US mail, VANCO online giving, or drop off to the front office between 8:30am and 12pm, Monday-Thursday.

When Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. Matthew 27:50–52 (NIV)

How come this detail doesn't get more notice? Many people came back to life on the day Jesus died. That’s a big deal! In all the Easter weeks I’ve spent in church, never once do I remember a single mention of the life that began at the moment of Jesus’s death.

Each year when Good Friday arrives, the sky seems to hang lower, the atmosphere subdued by the weight of the uni-verse and eternity and loss. We can’t wait for Easter, when we can give a standing ovation for Jesus’s victory. The hope of Easter brightens the darkness of Good Friday.

I’ve always thought Jesus’s Father God waited until Easter to clarify His victory, but He did not! He began bringing His people back to life immediately. Eternal rebirth for humanity began immediately after Jesus paid the price for us.

Jesus won, a truth that unequivocally means life. Eternal life in all its healing, saving glory began on Good Friday.

Whatever the day looks like from your perspective, whatever season of happiness or sorrow you are in today, cele-brate His gift of your life as you thank Jesus for dying to buy you back from death.

FAITH STEP: Spend a few minutes imagining the scene in Heaven’s throne room after Jesus died as faithful followers were reborn. Thank Him for life.

A Devotion for Holy Week from Guideposts

The hope of Easter brightens the darkness of Good Friday.

You’ve probably heard on the news that economic impact payments (also called stimulus payments) will be sent out to help Americans during this time of economic slow-down. As with any new law, it takes time to make it happen and there is a lot of true and false information going around. There are also a lot of scams.

If you filed a tax return in 2018 and/or 2019, the payment should be sent automatically. If you had direct deposit of your refund, the IRS should deposit your stimulus payment directly into the same account. IRS plans to have a place on their website to securely change bank information if your bank account has changed or if you didn’t have a direct de-posit. Go to https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus to check for the most up-to-date information.

IF YOU GET SOCIAL SECURITY, PLEASE READ THIS SECTION. If you receive Social Security, you DO NOT need to do any-thing to receive the stimulus payment. It will be sent to you or deposited into the account where your SS is normally deposited. There are many phone scams going around. The FBI is warning not to give out any information on the phone. The scammers will call and tell people that they need to get their Social Security number and bank account number or they won’t get the stimulus payment. THIS IS FALSE. The IRS already has that information and will do the payment automatically. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION TO ANYONE ON THE PHONE.
