Making the Blocks
1. Join one ecru paisley strip and one dark red
texture strip along one long edge to make a strip
set. Make four strip sets total. Crosscut the strip
sets into (18) 5 1/2" -wide segments and (18)
1 1/2" -wide segments. Repeat using the ecru
paisley and green texture strips, the ecru paisley
and orange texture strips, and then the ecru
paisley and the brown texture strips.
2. Join two matching 1 1/2" -wide segments to
make a four-patch unit. Make nine dark red/ecru
four-patch units, nine green/ecru four-patch units,
nine orange/ecru four-patch units, and nine
brown/ecru four-patch units.
3. Join one multicolor paisley square, two dark
red/ecru 5 1/2" -wide segments from step 1, and
one dark red/ecru four-patch unit, making sure
the ecru strips are next to the large square as
shown in the photo. Make nine of these blocks.
The blocks should measure 7 1/2" square.
4. In the same way, join one multicolor paisley
square, two brown/ecru 5 1/2" -wide segments
from step 1, and one brown/ecru four-patch unit
to make a block. Make nine blocks.
5. Join one red small floral square, two green/ecru
5 1/2" -wide segments from step 1, and one
green/ecru four-patch unit to make a block.
Make nine blocks.
6. Join one brown small floral square, two
orange/ecru 5 1/2" - wide segments from step 1,
and one orange/ecru four-patch unit to make
a block. Make nine blocks.
Assembling the Quilt
7. Refer to the photo for placement guidance.
Join the blocks in six rows of six blocks each,
alternating and rotating the blocks as shown in
the photo. Join the rows to complete the quilt
top center.
8. Join the remaining dark red 1 1/2" -wide strips
end to end. Measure the length of the quilt and
cut two strips to this length. Sew the strips to
opposite sides of the quilt top. Measure the
width of the quilt top and cut two strips to this
length. Sew the strips to the top and bottom of
the quilt top for the inner border.
9. Join the large floral 4 1/2" -wide outer-border
strips end to end. Measure the length of the
quilt and cut two strips to this length. Sew the
strips to the sides of the quilt top. Measure the
width of the quilt top and cut two strips to this
length. Sew the strips to the top and bottom of
the quilt top for the outer border.
