We’d like to take the time to thank all the
Brookfield families who contributed to our class
“Thanksgiving Feast” celebrations.
It was great to have you all be a part of your
child’s day.
Thanks for all you do!
Happy Birthday!! Samuel
Isabella
Our preschool families are invited to participate in “Operation Cratchit.” This
program provides extra help during the Christmas holiday to needy members of
the community. The program is associated with Stanford Settlement, a non-
profit dedicated to strengthening families and improving neighborhoods. The
ethical principles that guide the Settlement’s work are to teach by example,
practice cooperation ,and practice social democracy across class lines.
Brookfield elementary has contributed to “Operation Cratchit” for many years,
and we believe our preschool community’s participation will give our young stu-
dents a good introduction to the joys of giving back to the community and sharing
with those less fortunate.
Needed items include:
New, unwrapped toys and gifts for children
New Christmas wrapping paper
Non-perishable food items: canned or pack-
aged foods
On behalf of Brookfield Preschool we want to
thank each and every one of you for your support
of our Brookfield staff.
May your holidays be filled with joy and much
success for the New Year.

November is over and we are heading right into December.
The Thanksgiving feast was so much fun! Thanks to those who brought
the delicious food to share with all our friends.
It was a pleasure to meet with everyone for the parent teacher confer-
ences. The ladybug class is doing wonderfully.
December is already here; I can't believe it! Time flies when you are hav-
ing fun. December’s themes are Holiday Games, Children Around the World, and Holiday
Foods and Traditions.
Language and literacy: Jj, Kk, and Ll are the letters we will focus on this month. Some of
the books we will read are Children From Around The World, Merry Christmas Mom and
Dad, and Christmas Around The World. We have many holiday songs and nursery rhymes to
learn as well.
A new skill the children have learned is letter recognition; they can now point to items
around the classroom that begin with a certain letter and call it by name. It’s so exciting!
Math and Science: We are focusing on numbers 7 and 8. Some activities will include singing
the “Ten Little Snowmen, “making gingerbread men, and having fun with Christmas patterns
and colors. We will also learn the concept of giving a gift.
December is such a busy time of year. I hope every one slows down and takes the time to be
in the moment with your children and really enjoy them.
Parents please join us for our holiday party on Friday, December 18th at 9:30
a.m. We will be singing holiday songs and have some fun activities plan for the
children. The morning will be full of fun filled festivities, can’t wait to see you all
there!!!
Butterflies Mrs. Lopez & Mrs. Carlson
November was quite a busy month learning new things. We ended our theme
talking about “Fun With Family and Friends.” We learned about what families
need in their daily lives. We talked about things that are similar and different
within our families, too. During class, the children had the opportunity to prac-
tice introducing themselves to others, and learned how to ask good questions to
learn new things about other people. We ended our month
with a Thanksgiving feast and sharing about what we are thankful for.
December is here, and it will be a busy month! The children will experi-
ence being meteorologists. They will talk about what types of clothing to
wear during different kinds of weather. During the last week of this theme, the children will
learn about daytime and nighttime.
Phonics and Literature
The Butterflies will be reading, What Do You Think I Should Wear?, Who-ooo’s There?, The
Alphatales’“Jaguar’s Jungleberry Jamboree,” Kangaroo Kazoo, and The Lamb Who Loved to
Laugh. We’ll be helping the children with their phonic sounds of letters J, K and L. The
nursery rhyme, “Hickory Dickory Dock,” will be introduced to familiarize the children with
rhyming.
Math
Activities in math consist of learning the order of size, shortest to longest. The children are
reviewing numbers 1 through 9 and introducing numbers 10, 11, and 12. The concept of time
will be introduced to the children by using a clock, or a watch. The children are going to re-
view their shapes and learn how to sort them in different ways.
Science
During this theme, the children are using a thermometer to check temperature, and learn
which types of clothing can protect us from the cold weather. The butterfly class will be
learning about the shifting of shadows, and how light from the sun makes shadows. We will
also talk about the different shapes of the moon and nighttime animals.
Giraffes Mrs. Williams & Mrs. Cuevas
November has come and gone so quickly! It’s almost the end of the year and the
New Year is right around the corner. Our Thanksgiving feast was a huge hit and
we are so grateful for the parent volunteers who brought food and helped in the
classroom. We couldn’t have pulled off such a lovely feast without the help of
Jack, Madeline, Cassidy, Ethan A, Ethan B, Sydney, and Chelsea’s families, as well
as Matt, Zarek, Audrey, and Charlotte’s families. Thanks to Carter’s mom and
grandma for coming in to help decorate the adorable turkey cupcakes and to set up the ta-
bles for the feast!
In December we will only have 3 weeks of school. The class will be having a Christmas party
on the last day of school before our break on Friday, December 18th. We will keep you
posted on what will be taking place. The school will be closed for winter break from De-
cember 21st to January 1st, and will resume on January 4, 2016.
We wish you happy holidays and an enjoyable time off!
December’s theme is Choices.
Phonics and Literacy: Children will practice writing and sounds of the letters N and G, and
will continue practicing writing and learning their numbers. The students will also be prac-
tice writing their last names. Some of the books we will be reading are, Foods around the
world, Helping hands from A to Z, and Schubert's New Friend.
Science: Our class will be learning about proteins, fruits, and vegetables, and how they help
our bodies stay healthy and strong.
Art: Our class will be creating Paper Wreaths and Christmas Trees and working on various
art projects with our letters of the month, N and G.
Music: We will be singing a variety of holiday songs, such as “Rudolph the Red Nosed Rein-
deer,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” as well as play Musical Chairs, Drop the Dollar, and
Rainbow Dancers.
