General Manager
Now that everyone has been rolling into Palm Creek, I hope you’re having a fantastic time
catching up with your Palm Creek family. February is a busy month filled with exciting
happenings. Make sure you stop by the Activities Office and pick up your tickets. Don`t
miss out.
The tennis, pickleball and, of course, softball teams have been in full swing! Get outside,
head over and watch their tournaments.
The annual Cancer Awareness weekend kicks off on Friday, Feb 3rd, with a great schedule
of events. That evening’s hot air balloon “glow” will surely light up your life. This is a very
special event for our amazing community. We really come together and give back to the
Cancer Support Center for all the wonderful work they do for the community.
Our resident artists and crafters are creating some beautiful pieces. Drop by and please
support the arts. We are looking forward to seeing all our Canadian visitors on the 19th for
Canada Day celebration in Palm Park. And then come out on the 25th and see the cars you
grew up with at our annual “Still Cruisin” Car Show.
It`s February! Have some fun, do some dancing and sing out loud! And don`t forget to give
that special person a big hug on Valentine’s Day.

Goodness, it’s only February and it’s already time to start thinking about next year! We will begin taking RV site reservations for the 2017-18 season this
month. As in the past, those guests requesting their same site for the next season will be given the first opportunity to renew.
The schedule is as follows:
February 7: same site reservations for 3 months or longer
February 21: current residents wanting different sites for 3 months or longer
March 7: all 3+ month reservations allowed
April 1: reservations open to all
A $400 deposit is due at the time of the reservation.
Onsite storage reservations will also be taken at that time. Again this year, we will be offering onsite storage only in the southeastern part of the park. The rate will continue to be $90/month (+8.7% tax). Remember, you must have reservations on both the front and back end of your onsite storage reservation in order to qualify. Onsite storage must be paid in full at the time of the reservation.
Please note, although we make every effort to guarantee your site, the only time a site can be fully guaranteed is if you become an annual resident.
We’re currently offering a great shed program where you can have a shed built on your site with a two-year site commitment. With this program you will receive $100 per month off your first year’s rent AND no market rent increases for three years! Think of all the things you can lock up in your shed and leave here during the off-season! See Guest Services for more details.
ANNUALS: Please note effective February 1st, our new corporate policy no longer allows us to accept post-dated checks for rent payments at Guest Services. You can either make arrangements to sign up for Sun ePay, mail checks monthly or work with your bank to set up Bill Pay each month. Please remember, rent checks are due by the 5th of each month and a $40 late fee is assessed on the 6th of the month for any rent not collected.

Marion Nelson
Event Manager
Hello Friends!
Hopefully you’ve already marked your calendars with some of the big events we
have planned for February, because this month will absolutely fly by.
We start the month with a free Movie in the Park on February 2nd with Sully and
then finish the month with a second movie on February 28th, Arrival. Bring your
own chairs and enjoy a movie under the stars, just like the old drive-in theater
days. We will have fresh popcorn and other snacks for sale, or simply bring your
own.
We immediately transition to our annual Cancer Awareness Weekend on February
3rd. Highlights of this weekend are listed on pages 10 and 11, but please refer to
your separate tri-fold containing all the details of each event. We are still in need of
volunteers to help with luminaries and hot air balloons. We really need your help in
making this another successful event, and can’t do it without the help of our Palm
Creek residents.
Many of our lovebirds will be celebrating Valentines Day in our ballroom with a
dinner/dance on February 14th. We are sold out, but hope those without tickets still
plan to celebrate this occasion with their sweetheart.
Our annual Still Crusin’ Car Show will be held on February 25th. You’ll be able to
stroll through Palm Park and view all the classics which have been proudly
maintained by their owners over the years. It will definitely take you back in
time! We’ll have food, drink, and music by the Southwest Surfers. It should be a
fabulous day in the sun! Car Show T-shirts are already on-hand and will be on sale
right after our Cancer Awareness Weekend.
All these special events, combined with great entertainment and dances, make a
great recipe for a fabulous February. I hope to see you at all of them!

Events and Activities
Hi Everyone!
February is upon us and we are in full swing for this season. We have four fantastic
Wednesday night shows, starting with December ’63, then Neon Circus, Bernie and
Red, and back by popular demand Danny Vernon, as Elvis. This entertainer was
voted as one of the best Elvis impersonators
by the Graceland Estate. This is truly a show
you don’t want to miss.
As for our bus trips, we will be going to
Tubac, a quaint village near Tucson, filled
with art galleries, shopping and restaurants.
I have added a second bus, but only have a
few seats left. Make sure to come in soon
and purchase your ticket for this great
outing.
We are also
going to Arizona Opry this month. And our last bus
trip in February is to the Pima Air and Space
Museum. The bus trip includes lunch at their
restaurant and a special behind-the-scenes tour. It
should be an
awesome trip.
Now to our dances. We are having three
dances this month. The first is on February
4th with Saguaro Sunset. Then on February
11th we will be enjoying music from Urban
Crossroads. On Friday and Saturday, the 17th
and 18th, we will have the Kool Band playing
our favorite music from the 50’s through the 80’s. Remember, you can bring
friends from outside the park on Friday. Guests are $12.00 pp and for our
residents, it will be the normal price of $10.00 pp.
As you can see we are having a very busy
and fun season again this year. Stop by the
Activities Office and check us out.
See you soon!

Automated External Defibrillators
Where They Are and How to Use Them
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are user-friendly devices that
untrained bystanders can use to save the life of someone having a sudden
cardiac arrest.
We have four AEDs at Palm Creek. One is located at the pickleball courts, one
at the tennis courts, one in the gym and one in the hallway outside the
Ballroom.
If you see a person suddenly collapse and pass out, or if you find a person
already unconscious, confirm that the person can't respond. Shout at and
shake the person to make sure he or she isn't sleeping. Call 9–1–1 or have
someone else call 9–1–1. If two rescuers are present, one can provide CPR
(cardiopulmonary resuscitation) while the other calls 9–1–1 and gets the AED.
Check the person's breathing and pulse. If breathing and pulse are absent or
irregular, prepare to use the AED as soon as possible. Sudden cardiac arrest
causes death if it's not treated within minutes.
Before using an AED, check for puddles or water near the person who is
unconscious. Move him or her to a dry area, and stay away from wetness when
delivering shocks (water conducts electricity).
Turn on the AED's power. The device will give you step-by-step
instructions. You'll hear voice prompts and see prompts on a screen.
Check that the wires from the electrodes are connected to the AED. Make sure
no one is touching the person, and then press the AED's "analyze" button. Stay
clear while the machine checks the person's heart rhythm.
If a shock is needed, the AED will let you know when to deliver it. Stand clear
of the person and make sure others are clear before you push the AED's
"shock" button.
Start or resume CPR until emergency medical help arrives or until the person
begins to move. Stay with the person until medical help arrives, and report all
of the information you know about what has happened.

Your $3 donation for a bowl of chili will go to the Cancer Support Center so we
encourage you to join us.
Our Bistro is really hopping and if you haven’t made it by yet, please do so. Every
Monday I will post our specials, including our soup of the day. Our fresh-made deli
sandwiches are still going strong. To our selection of breads, we are now also offering
wraps. A spinach, wheat or tomato basil wrap is a great alternative if you’re looking
for a change.
Don’t forget our smoothie & milk shakes that are also available!
Our biscuits and gravy has been well received in the mornings so we will continue
that item in February.
You may have noticed, we are starting our Patio Luncheon service a little earlier this
season—11:00am. This allows more of our residents and guests to enjoy a tasty
lunch with friends.
Here is our Patio Luncheon menu for February:
February 1- Junker Dunkers
February 8 - Sliders
February 15 - Reubens
February 22 - Coney Dog &
French Fries
The Sport’s Grill is up and running, now that we are in the middle of softball season.
Hours are 8:00am to 2:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. During our softball and
pickleball tournaments, the grill will be open with
extended hours.
Come down and see Bob and his team at the
Sports Grill and cheer on your favorite softball
team or pickle ball player and have a bite to eat.
