INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGES DAY! On Friday 12th February 2016, Halley hosted International Mother Languages day. In the morning we had an assembly all about Mother languages. As a school we are very lucky to have teachers from all around the world. These countries include India, Cyprus, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. The day was also a

non uniform day where everybody dressed up in clothes from their country. We all donated £1. As a school we were able to raise £244.71. In the afternoon we were able to go to the workshop where there were lots of stalls selling different foods from around the world. There were rice dishes, samosas, cakes and brownies. A special thanks to Olivier, Samina and Year 6 helping the rest of the school celebrate a brilliant event.

JIGSAW CELEBRATION Last week we were celebrating people in our school who have made a healthy choice. Well done to:

That's Interesting! MOTHER’S DAY

Did you know: Mothering Sunday has been celebrated in the England since the early 16th century. Mother's Day or Mothering Sunday is the day on which

mothers and motherhood are honoured. The day is celebrated all over the world although not on the same date. Most countries including America, Canada and Australia

celebrate Mother's Day on the second Sunday in May. Mothering Sunday in England and Ireland is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent.

During the 1920s the flower the white carnation became a popular gift item for mothers; they were said to represent the purity of a mother’s love.
