Patriot Golf

August 7-11 – eGolf Tour | Volunteers Needed

T he Patriot Golf Club is proud to host the 2012 Grand Harbor Open - eGolf Tour event on August 8-11. As usual, we need your help. If anyone is in town and available to help out, please sign-up on the volunteer sign-up sheet in the pro shop or email me and I’ll sign you up. We know that

we will need starters for morning and afternoon tee times, spotters and help with transportation. We don’t know exactly how many we need, but the more the merrier. The sign-up sheet will ask you what days of the week you are available and if you prefer to work in the am or pm. We will also need help after the event. This is a walking event so anyone willing to help maintenance fill divots with sand would be greatly appreciated. That would be a good time for us to revisit the adopt a hole program we started a few years ago. Housing for Players As with any developmental tour, many of the players competing are aspiring Web.com Tour and PGA Tour players and are always looking for a way to cut their expenses. If anyone is willing to serve as a host for a player or player(s), please contact Tommy at the Golf Shop. You never know, you might be hosting a future PGA Tour star. Event Format: 72 holes of stroke play, with the field cut to the low 33 percent and ties for the final 2 rounds. Field will be split over The Patriot Golf Club and The Golf Club at Star Fort for Rounds 1 and 2, and all play will be on The Patriot for Rounds 3 and 4. Purse: Estimated purse is $163,193 (based on estimated field of 150 players).

Congratulations Are In Order

Hole-In-One Club On July 17th, Tommy Thomas aced #17 from 185 yards using a 5-iron. Jimmy McDonnell witnessed the shot. Well done, Tommy!

Shoot Your Age Shooting your age is one of the great accomplishments in the game of golf, right along side the hole-in-one. On June 28th, John St. George shot a 74, which is 3 shots under his age. Way to go, John! On July 10th, Dick Reeves shot an 86, which is right on the number. Dick had to make 3 ten footers on his last 3 holes to shoot an 86. Congratulations, Dick!

SHEPHERD’S

O riginally an English dish,

Shepherd’s Pie is

traditionally made with

lamb or mutton. Americans typically

make Shepherd's Pie with beef.

Here is a basic recipe for a simple

ground beef Shepherd's Pie. The

great thing about this dish is it’s so

delicious that you can mess it up

and it will still leave you feeling as if

you’re in heaven!

INGREDIENTS

4-5 cups mashed potatoes

half onion chopped 2 lbs ground beef

2 1/2 tbls beef base 1/2 cup water

1 cup cream of mushroom soup 4 tbls flour

1cup cheddar cheese

METHOD

Brown beef and onions in skillet. Drain then add soup and flour. Reduce at high heat for five minutes. Transfer to 2 qt. Pyrex dish. Cover with potatoes and top with cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 - 35 minutes. Serve with your favorite veggies.
