Thank you, one and all who helped with the Work Day on July 29th! Seven teens and nine adults helped spiffy up our grounds in preparation for Summer Fun Fest on Saturday, Au-gust 13th. This coming week much more will be required of all of us to do the final grass mowing, weed eating, setup, etc. beforehand and then the teardown, cleanup, etc. after-wards. Check with Joe Mangiameli to volunteer for setup, teardown, cleanup, etc. and see Tom Boyd to volunteer for grounds preparation. Finally our weather is such that we can do some paint-ing. The southeast corner of our building really needs some attention. See Tom Boyd if you have some time to dedicate to this project. Thanks again for all your help. Tom Boyd

PRAYER ROOM PRAYER ROOM PRAYER ROOM PRAYER ROOM Did you know that during the ser-
vice on Sunday volunteers are praying for the ser-
vice? Prayer is offered for all things concerning
the service and our worship of the Lord. There are
usually three people each Sunday alternating fe-
males one Sunday and males the next.
There is a real need for more volunteers to join us
in this time of prayer. Can you pray with the
group one Sunday every two months or so? This
ministry needs to remain strong to hinder Satan
from interfering with or taking our eyes off the
Worship of God and the hearing of His word.
If you would like to take part, please contact Glo
Edes at [email protected], or 582-0982. She
will put you on the schedule.
Thank You, Ken Goss

Update from Kris Bower Fiji Fiji Fiji Fiji 8-3-11
We got to see Don and Dani the first Sunday we
were here, at the Lami church. Dani started crying
when we walked into the church---and wouldn’t
you know---I did too! I told her if she was going to
start that, that I would finish it!!! That brought a
tearful smile to her face.
We HAVE gotten a lot done these two weeks and I
can’t believe we head back home in two days. To-
morrow is our last day to do any sewing but I feel
like there is way too much left to do and to show
Mary how to do. Oh, and yes, we have played a LOT
of Scrabble in the evenings!

Sharing Your Faith With Someone and Helps for Doing It
What can you use to share your faith, share it faithfully and accurately, and leave it with a person to have for
their own? For people who truly wish to share their faith with someone, Sequim Bible Church will make avail-
able a brown-covered New Testament, which includes the Psalms and the Proverbs. Inside the back cover there
is the plain plan of salvation presented for you to share with someone. On the right hand side there is a place
for a person to indicate their decision to accept Christ. When finished sharing, you can offer it to them to keep.
Remember, our privilege is to share Christ; it is the responsibility of the Holy Spirit to convict and convince a
person of the truth and bring him or her to acceptance of it. This little book has helped faithful witnesses to
bring millions of people to Christ, throughout the world. A supply of these will be on the table in the foyer. If
you will use this, please help yourself.

ReachReachReachReach
“God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.” Acts. 17:27 (NIV)
The sky awoke to discover her face had turned mirror-gray in the night. Applying her rouge, she dusted the billows of her cheeks in the east. Then she enjoyed her daily entertainment: she watched a field of sunflowers waiting below her horizon in the blackness below.
The sunflowers had pined all night over the absence of their beloved sun, and they faced the place where he would rise again. When the first rays streamed over the hills, the sunflowers rose up in jubilee. Their faces locked onto the sun and, with each inch of his movement, they craned their heads, until by evening they faced due west. The flowers could not bear life without their sun and when he set, they turned back to the east and leaned toward his return.
What the sky witnessed was a living analogy. A true Christian is not one who has arrived at perfect union with Christ, but one who is urgent in their reach toward Him. As the sunflower misses the sun, I need to grieve over my separation from Jesus and strain after His every movement. I am to follow Him with a desperation that will not be satisfied until we are together in paradise. Thus, my future is not de-cided by the completion of my present, but by the stretch of my reach.
Some sunflowers really are heliotropic. That is, they track the sun because daylight causes a chemi-cal reaction that pumps more water into the cells on the shadow side of the stem, which subsequently stretches the cells full and pushes the head toward the sun. I also need to be heliotropic. I must grab all the light from heaven I can, and let it pump truth into the darker side of my character, to keep my head turned toward Jesus. Even my faults must push me to face Jesus.
God does not want me to be a lazy Christian that only looks for easy signs and wonders. He wants me to stretch my elastic faith thin in its reach toward Him. That is why He speaks in whispers and by varied means. If I always knew how He was going to communicate, only that one area of my life would be atten-tive to Him. As it is, I must draw out my intellect in Bible study, extend my spirit in prayer, take pains to interpret circumstances, and exert myself to hear God’s wisdom through others. Every area of my life must labor to hear God’s voice.
I hope the sky will look down on me and say, “Ah, there he is, another sunflower.”
Prayer: “God around me, grant me strength to reach for You with all that I am”.
