Harlington School is a winner in this year’s SSAT Educational Outcomes Awards
Important Information
Harlington School one of the best in the country for student progress at GCSE
Harlington School has received national recognition for the value it adds to students’ achievements at GCSE.
SSAT, the Schools, Students and Teachers Network, recently undertook its annual in-depth analysis of official Department for Education data on all state-funded schools in England and identified Harlington
School’s success.
The school has qualified for an SSAT Educational Outcomes Award by being in the top 10% of schools nationally for progress made by pupils between their key stage 2 results at primary school and their
GCSE results at age 16.
The school has been invited to receive their award at a regional celebration ceremony hosted by SSAT at Holland Park School in London on 12 May.
Sue Williamson, Chief Executive of SSAT said:
‘Harlington School should be congratulated for their exceptional achievement. They have proved them-selves to be leading the field in improving GCSE outcomes for their students. There is so much good
practice that this school could share, and I hope they will join us at the celebration evening for the chance to network and share strategies with award-winning schools.
‘These results are testament to the commitment and hard work of the students, teachers and leadership team at Harlington School, and show what can be achieved when skilled teachers have high expecta-tions and ambition for every young person. I am proud that this school is a member of the SSAT net-
work.’

Year 12 Geography Field Trip
Debate Mate Round 2
The annual trip to Swanage ran again this year, on March 2nd to 4th.We took the AS students to visit the coastal sites of
Swanage, Lulworth Cove and Old Harry. The weather was kind to us this year, in the past we have been flooded,
snowed on, faced temperatures of ‐10 degrees, but this year there was bright sunshine, oh and a very quick hail show‐
er. The aim of the trip was for the year 12's to gather informa on for the Unit 2 exam in May, and they all bravely put
their wellies and got in the river Wey to collect their data. They were very efficient and even the field centre comment‐
ed on their speed, efficiency and at mes intelligence. They were a credit to the school.
Harlington School sent 11 students to the Deutsche Bank Debate Mate Cup, Round 2. The compe on was being
held at Alec Reed Academy where our school competed on the mo on: ‘This house would introduce a quota for
racial and ethnic minority officers in the police service.’ Our teams successfully won two out of four debates.
What do we think about the debate mate compe on?
Nasra said, “It was good because we improved from the last compe on.”
Faisa said, “It was interes ng because I met new people.”
Remember; if you are interested ask Miss Woulfe, Mrs Hellier and Miss Broadhurst for more informa on.
