Brief Life Story Harriet’s real name was Araminta, but when she was a little

girl they called her Minty. Harriet also could not go to school because she was forced to do heavy work. When Harriet was only seven years old she was sold by the Master. Harriet was whipped so often she had scars on her neck for the rest of her life. By the time she was 11 she was very strong and she could do heavy work from sunrise to sunset. She loaded the wood into wagons, she also plowed the corn fields. When Harriet was just 13 years old she was struck in the head with an iron weight. Harriet escaped from being a slave in 1849. After Harriet escaped she was wanted dead or alive and there was an award for 40 thousand dollars.
