Hello my name is Stevie Ashton and I am a placement student at Harrow Arts Centre. My time at HAC has been dedicated to organising and marketing the annual wedding fair and learning about the seasonal programming of events at the arts centre.

As always we have a great variety of shows, workshops, film screenings and exhibitions to keep you entertained during the Summer months and

I am particularly looking forward to our Family Fun Day - a great opportunity to try out classes and workshops that are held on site.

Music fans will be pleased to know that this Summer we are celebrating nominees for best film soundtrack with classics such as Some Like It Hot and The Sound of Music. If you enjoyed Magic of Motown last season then you’ll be sure to love Soul Legends coming to us this May, which is certain to take you back in time for an evening of soulful classics. If that wasn’t enough, Robert Habermann will be bringing you Always, the songs and life story of American composer, Irving Berlin.

There is also plenty to keep the little ones entertained during the Summer Holidays here at HAC. Children and adults alike love attending our Disney film screenings and we will be focusing on the classics this time around! Bring the kids along to our screening of Beauty and the Beast, and fuel their creativity with the Beast or Beauty workshop. We are also excited to introduce the loveable family play How the Koala Learnt To Hug - Steven Lee’s charming tale about the magic of family and, of course, the importance of a nice warm hug!

Thank you for supporting Harrow Arts Centre and we hope to see you soon at one of our upcoming events!

The Picture of Dorian Gray

Fresh from a West End run of ‘The Trials of Oscar Wilde’, European Arts Company returns with a thrilling adaptation of Wilde’s only novel written with his grandson Merlin Holland. Set in the decadent world of Victorian London, a beautiful young man called Dorian Gray becomes infatuated by the exquisite portrait that Basil Hallward has painted of him. He makes a Faustian pact that he will remain forever young while the picture grows old. Combining drawing-room comedy and Gothic horror, this is a gripping and hugely entertaining theatrical event.

Sophie has always wanted a pet - a furry little friend to call her own. But she’s not allowed a hamster, because they are far too small. She won’t be getting a kitten, because Dad’s got an allergy. She’s certainly not having a dog, because they bark and dribble, and make far too much mess. Mum would go mad!

One day, Sophie sets off to the shops and buys herself something very special - a baby monster. A very BIG baby monster! But, this is when the trouble begins...

Blunderbus is proud to present this monster of a show which bursts to life with an irresistible blend of music, puppetry and high energy storytelling. Little monsters aged 3-7 (and their grown-ups) will love this funny, heart-warming tale.

Alistair Lambert2 June - 29 JuneThe Gallery at HAC

The sculptures made are usually constructions and arrangements of parts rather than single carved or modelled objects. They are often made from readily available materials or prefabricated pieces.

Alistair usually approaches their making by trying to recall how to play, freely, like a child. Through repeating simple actions and allowing rhythms and patterns to emerge without any particular intent, Alistair can, if lucky, find the life of the work has taken on surprising, pleasing and sometimes resonant forms.

We all share a common sense of space and a need for peace, one that we can encourage within ourselves as well as see reflected in the world around us. However it is not always open to view and is rarely fixed.

These sculptures too are not necessarily permanent; they can be rearranged and easily packed away. They are Alistair’s attempts to share something he has recognised as worth, pausing with, as reflecting the dynamic of a precious space that we all once occupied.
