APPENDIX V CHILDREN'S HOME REPORT

We look back over the past year and see that God has blessed our ministry in many ways, despite having some unusual trying times. We average having 18 children per &y through out the year and we have attempted to share Christ's love with them and you have been a very important part of this ministry.

1 would like to thank every church, every person and !irm who have supported our ministry with your prayers. gifts, and donations and we want all to know they are very important to this ministry. May God bless you as you labor for HIM.

We were receiving donations at a record pace until HUGO hit, wd we feel that this caused donations to fall of about $6000 during the last three months, causing us to fall below about $4000 from last years income. Also expenses were up some over last year and again was due to HUGO, as we spent about $4000 above what insurance company paid to get everything fixed back, such as shingles on all the buildings and new sign.

We had a lot of rain during the summer, which caused our grounds and new shrub- bery to be green and beautiful during the entire summer. We hope you will visit us and see our grounds this wrning year.

The home is presently being operated by James B. Rice, Jr.. Jo Anne Rice, Lida Presson and our cook, Sadie Hampton, and is located on 83 acres, where a main build- ing, two dormitories, a nursery, a recreational budding, and two storage houses are lo- cated. Other physical things used is large sign in front, a 1969 Bus, 1983 pickup. a 1980 van, and two tractors. Property valued at $625.000.00.

Go& are to spend more time with children counseling and attending to spiritual mat- tes, improve property even more and maintain same, to become better hown by busi- nesses and people in area in order to gain suppon whereby we will be better able to sene needy children for the glory of God.

Pastor Earl Hanns Phone (803) 531-1645

This past year has been both an exciting year, and to swne degree a sad. Exciting in seeing whaf the Lord has done, sad in that we have had a ccuple of good familiar to y e away. One qf t k f d i e s war our vuy first family, T h y and Jawand Lar- runore.

Bernice and I have bwcked on 852 doors rhis doer not count the many homes that we have visited in and the doors some of our members have k k e d on. We have sent our 260 letters, had 20 fist time d e c k k for Christ, baptised 25, had 67 rededicath, 2 funerals, and 2 weddings.

I think t k sweetest weding that I have ever seen was when Danny and Tummy Ham- mond were rewrited in holy matrimony. As a very young couple they were married and had two children, b u b e m e of sin they seperated and finally divorced. Both became alcoholics and lived a very sirlfvl Ige. DSS had taken their children and their liws were in a mess. Then they met Jesus and thut changed all of that. To make it short they both have been living for the Lord now, their lives are straight, they have their children back, have bought a home and they are happy and rum, are remarried.

We have averaged 40 in Sunday School, 53 in Morning preaching, 42 in the S n n h ~ night service, and 41 in our prayer meeting. We have purchased 4.06 acres 4 land and it is paid for. We now have our sewage permit, have ow f&bn laid out and are re& to start buildiryl. To God be t k plory.

we have faced &e problem this k t year than I have ever faed in all of my minis- t o put together, but by t k k l p of t k Lord we continue unfiI this day. Our hope and prayer is that we will soon hiwe our building built and paid for and in not to dstantfu- twe we will be a self-supporting Free Will Baptk Church. One other thing that 1 failed to mention was that we have given $3,300.00 & orher

Free Will Bqptist minktries this past year.

I God bless each of you.,

I Because of Calvary,

I Bro. Earl and Sister Bernice PS. We passed out over 2000 tracts and wrote 50 articles for the newspaper.

I "JESUS, THE DOOR TO HEAVEN"

I Dear State brothers mrd sisters in Christ:

The Home Mission Board shall be authorized to purchase, hold title to. and dispose of all real pqmty of the mission work with the approval of the State Association in ses- sion or its Executive Committee, until such time that the mission is officially organized into a local church

RETIREMENT HOME REPORT

APPENDIX lx

POSTON BAGGEIT LOAN FUND

The Retirement Home Committee met on Thursday. January 25. 1990 and approved the following report and recommendation.

Two survey questionnaires were mailed to our churches. The first one dealt with two questions: 1) Do you think there is a need for a retirement home ministry among our people and if so do you think we should establish such a ministry? The vast majority of those who responded said. yes to both questions. 2) If we establish a retirement home ministry do you feel that Turbeville, SC would be the place for it? Again, the majority responded with a YS. Some, however. thought we should look at other loca- tions.

The second survey dealt with two basic questions: 1) HOW many prospective resi- denrs do you have now and how many additional ones would you have over the next five year? The total number of prospective residents for the next five years totaled 310, however we detected an overlap in the counting and this number would not be correct. We do feel, however. that there is a sufficient number of our people who need this min- i s ~ that it be given further consideration 2) The second question dealt with the type housing; apartments or dormitory facilities? 31 stated a preference for apartment facility, 8 for the dormitory facility and 26 gave no preference.

RECOMMENDATION

Based on the results of the sweys the committee feek that we should continue the study on the feasibility of establishing such a ministry and recommends to the state association that the committee be given permission to do so with study be given to the following three areas.

1. Buildings: Type. construction, cost, etC.

2. Resident Cost: Services rendered, etc.

3. Location: Available medical service and other needed services for retired people.

If this study is approved a report on the findings will be given at the 1991 State h- sociation

"For he that will love life and see good days. let him nfrain his tongue h u evil, and his lips dm tbcy speak no guile: let him +w evil. and do g d k t him seek peace, and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord am ova the righteous. and his ears are open unto their payers; but the face of the Lardis against them that do evil." (I Peter 3: 10-12)

God hates evil d is against it and we ought to hate evil and be against it, whaeva it appears. We recognize these areas for Christians to fight against in regards to plblic morals:

1. Pornography - in print or picture 2. Immoral, immodest and inappropriate television 3. Rock 'n Roll Music 4. County and Westem Music 5. Alcoholic beverages 6. Illegal drugs

Public morals will improve only as God's people fight against these evils. and the Gospel changes the lives of those who receive it

"Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good." (Romans 129)

We recommend these materials for help and guidance in the area of public morals. 1. " AFA JOURNAL (AMERICAN FAMILY ASSOCIATION)

We also recommend that concaned Christians pin the boycotts of store.. products. businesses, TV stations and any others who continue to support these awful vices that
