Athens, Greece (K-12). Responsibilities included: planning,

APPOINTMENTS
1997-To Date Director of Sport Management Program and Concentration:
Department of Health, Exercise, and Sport Science, The
Citadel. Duties include, besides advising all students
concentrating in Sport Management, the creation and
implementation of a new curriculum for Sport Management
students that follows guidelines established by
NASPE/NASSM. Created new courses to be implemented in
new curriculum and established co-operation of School of
Business for additional courses’ inclusion into the curriculum.
Currently heading the new curricula of Sport Management
for both the Graduate (Graduate Certificate in Sport

Management: Sales & Marketing of Sport as well as an
emphasis in Sport Management in the M.S. in HESS degree),
and Undergraduate levels. Participated in college-wide
committees such as: Faculty Council (Chair), Research
committee (Chair), Tenure & Promotion committee,
Sabbaticals committee, Faculty Development committee,
Core Curriculum Overseeing committee, Curriculum &
Instruction committee (Chair), Education committee, and
Retention and Admittance committee for the Education
program at the School of Education. Finally, acted as Faculty
advisor for the Health, Exercise and Sport Science Majors
club, scheduling and implementing monthly meetings, inviting
guest speakers for these meetings, and scheduling and
organizing educational trips to conventions, conferences and
workshops for students majoring in Health, Exercise and
Sport Science.
1994-1995 Athletic and Intramural Director. Bradford College,
Bradford, MA. Responsibilities included: revising philosophy
of Athletics at Bradford; acting upon budgetary cuts
introduced by the Board of Trustees and affecting operation
of six women’s and five men’s sports; scheduling facilities
and events for the Intramural program using local health club
facilities; actively overseeing recruitment of student-
athletes; and promote involvement of students in the day-to-
day operation of the Athletics and Intramurals. Additional
responsibilities included: searching for ways and means to
fund a $3.5 million Physical Education and Sports facility,
viewed as necessary for the institution; promote Athletics
and Intramurals to the students; and overseeing and actively
participating in the daily administration of the two programs,
acting as administrator, teacher, mentor, supervisor, coach
and any other capacity called for by the unique nature of the
institution’s programs and budgetary restrictions.

Responsibilities: revising and implementing revisions of
Physical Education curriculum to bring it closer to the
institution’s philosophy of a Liberal Arts curriculum;
introducing new sport clubs every year with an increased
student participation from 5% to approximately 30% of total
student population; noting the lack of opportunity for sport
participation of female students of the institution and
introducing sport clubs geared to that population.

facilities, equipment, transportation, finances, etc.;
responsible for recruitment, academic compliance and policy
formation for student-athletes; sports information and
public relations for the sport clubs; overseeing facilities and
equipment of Physical Education, Sports and Intramurals;
evaluating and advising personnel of Physical Education,
Sports and Intramurals; scheduling use and rentals of
Physical Education facilities for various activities of students
and surrounding community members; and overseeing the
implementation of Athletics and Intramural programs geared
towards maximum student involvement and participation. In
the fall of 1993 I voluntarily stepped down from Athletic
Director due to an increased overload in my Academic
responsibilities, only to be asked to return in 1994 as interim
Chair of Athletics and Intramurals..

APPOINTMENTS
Fall 2002- Spring 2006 Head Cross-Country Coach at First Baptist Church H. S.
Successfully established a boys’ team for the first time in
the last 5 years for the school and guided that team to a
sixth & seventh place finishes in the 2002, 2003 & 2004
SCISAA state meets.
2001-2006 Head Track & Field Coach at First Baptist Church H. S.
Produced various state top finalists at various events at the
SCISAA state meets. Coached all events in Track & Field.

1994-1995 Men’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, and
Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Coach at Bradford College.
Under my guidance the soccer team won the Northern New
England Small College Conference championship for three
years in a row; the Men’s Volleyball Team won the
championship once and came in third place twice; and the
Women’s Volleyball Team won the championship twice and
placed in third place once.
1989-1990 Assistant Coach for Women’s Volleyball at Northern
Kentucky University. Responsibilities included assisting in
practice and game situations as well as scouting and
recruiting in a three states area.
1986-1988 Head Track & Field and Cross-Country Coach for the
“Ethnikos” Sports Club in Athens, Greece. Responsible for
middle and long distance runners, novice to international
levels. Voted twice as the coach with the most promising
young athletes nationally. Coached one of these runners to
the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
1987-1988 Boys’ and Girls’ Volleyball Coach at Doukas School in

1986-1987 Track & Field Coach for jumping events at the Naval
Academy of Greece.

IN PROGRESS Comparison of H.S. Physical Education programs in the prefecture of Halkidiki, Greece and South Carolina, USA.
A collaborative research program that examines the
similarities and differences between the H.S. Physical
Education curricula of the two constituencies (the research
compares a state with a nation due to lack of national
curriculum in USA).
Motives, Satisfaction, and Interests of Season Ticket Holders. A research that examines the profiles of The
Citadel Football & Basketball season ticket holders. To be

presented in the future at a professional conference in
Spring/Summer 2012, as well as to be combined with future
research in trying to identify new customers for Football
games, and brand positioning of The Citadel football.
Reasons for Out-of-Town Participation in Races of Runners. A research to identify underline reasons that
runners are willing to travel more than 60 miles to an out-of-
town race. It is assumed that information revealed from this
research will be of assistance to local, regional and/or
national level race directors, who could then concentrate
more on potential participants for their races. Such
information could also potentially be helpful to metropolitan
areas’ development directors. This is a research that was
restricted to the Charleston area runners, as a pilot for a
nationwide future research. To be concluded & presented at
a future conference in 2012-2013 as well as authoring a
comprehensive review of national survey, after its
implementation in 2012-2013.
If you seek them, they’ll come I: Identification of Potential Citadel football home games attendees from the Charleston area. A research on consumer behavior of
Charleston residents non-affiliated with The Citadel. The
research will examine interest of Charleston residents and
incentives that can be used to bring them to The Citadel are
sporting events, mainly football (in progress). Research
expected to provide 1-2 articles for publication on subject of
“Identifying Potential Customers to the Athletic Events”.
“Providing Training for Student Portfolios – Training the Sport Management Student”. A research that examines
strategies and techniques to be used on training Sport
Management students on how to create a professional
portfolio that encompasses the three areas of training:
affective, cognitive, and performance (work in progress; to
be submitted for publication as either a series of three
monographs, or a book).
Economic Impact of The Citadel Home Football games on the Charleston Area. A research examining the economic
impact of the home football games of The Citadel on the area
(work in progress).
Economic and Other Impact of the Cooper River Bridge Run on the Greater Charleston Area. A research and

hopefully 2-3 papers based on research done in the last two
years; examination of impact such as behavioral changes in

with a colleague from another institution that compares the
profiles of the season ticket holders of the two institutions.
Out-of-Town Participation: Runners’ Profile. Based upon
current and future research of runner’s reasons and other
attitudes for competing at races farther than 60 miles away
from home.
Economic Impact of the Southern Conference Tournaments
of Men’s’ and Women’s’ Basketball Tournaments and Men’s’
Baseball Tournament in the Greater Charleston area. A
research examining the economic impact of three events of
Southern Conference (including baseball & basketball) that
take place at the Greater Charleston area.
Profile of Volunteers for Athletic Events. A research to
examine general characteristics of volunteers of athletic
events. It is assumed that can help organizers to identify
volunteers in their area for athletic events staged.
A Primer for a Sport Management Student Portfolio. A
research on specific skills and required rubrics to create a
sequence of student portfolio, with the goal to guide the
student through his/her undergraduate studies, and also
provide him/her with the best planning for future
employment in the field of Sport Management.
A Sport Evolution: From Local to Global. A paper examining
the evolution of sport from the local to the
