After the Earthquake

After the earthquake, TEPCO had to simultaneously handle media activities for both Fukushima Daiichi accident and the planned blackouts.

Emergency Control Room (HQ and Fukushima Daiichi) Immediately after the earthquake, we set up the emergency control room

and started communicating with Fukushima Daiichi NPS. The communication team received info concerning the accident in this

After the Earthquake, TEPCO issued approximately 3,900 press releases that mainly dealt with the accident.

Telephone Correspondence

Immediately after the earthquake, TEPCO received a tremendous number of media telephone calls from not only within Japan but also from all over the world.

There was a variety of questions regarding Fukushima Daiichi NPS, electricity demand and supply, TEPCO management, compensation, etc.

Press Conference Since March 11, 2011, TEPCO has held 877 press conferences. From April 25 to December 16, 2011, 89 GoJ-TEPCO joint press conferences

were held.

TEPCO’s Website TEPCO’s website covers information on the accident, compensation

payouts, and power supply, etc. In principle, TEPCO provides English translations for all press releases. The website includes not only press releases, but also explanatory videos,

pictures, documents, plant related parameters, monitoring results, and live press conferences.
