The hall is becoming a popular venue for weddings. It is located in a fantastic rural setting. Tullynessle and Forbes Hall is a perfect size it can seat 140 people for a meal, it can accommodate 160 people for dancing, or use the internal curtains to create a more intimate space. The kitchen is well equipped and has been designed to cater for large numbers. There is a stage with a PA system. The lighting is flexible to create a variety of atmospheres. A car park that can take 64 cars – it is a pretty good place for a gathering. There are views to Bennachie and views to Coreen for those important wedding photos. If you want a church wedding Tullynessle Church is situated down the hill ¼ mile from the hall. It is available for hire. Increasingly Community Halls are being used as wedding venues. The advantages are obvious: massive savings, a local option for friends and family, more control over the catering arrangements, opportunities to decorate the venue to suit your taste and you can choose your own entertainment. There is some work involved in putting all the arrangements in place, but with the help from family and friends this can be minimised. If you are tempted, check out our website (see bottom of back page). Details of hire and photos of the hall can be viewed. Contact details for Tullynessle Church are available from David Lawson tel 01975563637. HAUD FORRIT! Tullynessle and Forbes Community and Hall Association Autumn 2019

Producers’ Market October 26th

Our next Producers’ Market (our 9th) will be on Saturday October 26th 10am til 1pm. When we held our first one in October 2015 we knew it would be a popular event but we didn’t realise what a huge success the Markets would be. Over the years we have had 47 different food stalls and 38 different craft stalls. Sadly we only have space for 32 stalls at each Producers’ Market. We try to have a good mix of both food and crafts. Our last Market, in June, was our best yet with raffle and tea sales well up and we can now afford to buy the new PA system for the Hall. The proceeds from the raffle at the October Market will help us buy some display/partition boards. As well as supporting local food producers and providing our community with a chance to buy fresh produce and beautiful crafts, the Producers’ Markets raise much needed funds for Tullynessle and Forbes Hall. So please come along on Saturday October 26th. You’ll find a huge variety of food, drink and craft stalls, as well as plants. Our much sought after Tullynessle Calendar will also be on sale. Enjoy a tea or coffee and a delicious homebake in our popular “cafe with a view”.

2020 Calendar

Archie Wakeling’s Basketball Story

2019 brought dramatic changes for Archie

Wakeling, a tall loon frae Montgarrie. He was

amongst only 2 boys from the Grampian area

selected to participate alongside 38 other boys in

performance level basketball training in Bathgate.

After further training he was then selected to play

for Scotland at the Humphrey Long Invitation event

in Manchester. Archie’s Squad although unable to

beat England came out top of the Scottish teams in

what was a tournament of very high quality. Well

done Archie.

Calling All Am. Dram. Devotees

There has been some interest in forming an adult play reading group in the Alford area. If portraying

a character in a short play, or acting out a funny little sketch appeals to you then get in touch. Please

spread the word, we do need sufficient people to form a group to take the project forward. If there

is enough interest the plan would be to have an initial meeting in early Autumn to work out what to

do and establish times, dates and a venue to suit everyone with an interest.

Please e-mail with ideas and suggestions to [email protected]
