A Clarion Call for Faithful to Make Home Holy Hours Now!Fr. Basil Cole, OP, a noted Dominican retreat master, said that a few dedicated prayerful people can change the course of history. That could be us!

Every week thousands of Holy Hours and Blessed Sacrament visits were made in our diocese. Coronavirus crisis has curtailed visits, this powerful way to come before the Lord.

Home Holy Hours will enable us to continue this efficacious way of praying. Set a time to make a Holy Hour with the Lord in your home.

The above Benediction picture is available for display in your home. Fr. James Kubicki, SJ, sent this picture to RFR three years ago. It is an aid in making home Holy Hours. See P. 3 to order.

Our Lord Wants to Speak to Your Heart. Let Him by Reading Scripture. We thank Sister Claire, SOLT of Most Holy Trinity Parish, for the following insights and encouragement about reading the Bible, especially at this time.

As life has slowed down for all of us, let us take this time to recommit ourselves to a deeper relationship with Our Lord. One of the best ways to do this is by reading His Word in the Bible, a love letter from Jesus. The unusual circumstances of these days provide us more time for Bible reading, meditation and prayer.

Jesus promises in John 8:31-32: “If you remain in my Word, you will truly be my disciples, you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” So by rooting ourselves in Scripture, we can know the Truth.

As we look toward Easter, read what Jesus did after the resurrection. (See

April’s Three Great Liturgical EventsLent, two weeks left – Sharing in Christ’s passion and death. Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus – Easter Renewal of Baptismal Promises Divine Mercy Sunday – Seeking and trusting in the Divine Mercy of God.

Luke Chapter 24) Jesus knew the power of the Scriptures, and wanted to share that gift with us.

The Catholic Catechism, #133 says, “The Church…forcefully and specifically exhorts all the Christian faithful to learn the surpassing knowledge of Jesus Christ, by frequent reading of the Divine Scriptures.” There are many ways to read Scripture, but remember the ultimate goal of reading Scripture is to encounter Christ. Sister Claire suggests starting with the Gospels. Perhaps begin with the Gospel of the day. Read it slowly, prayerfully. What is the Lord telling you through that passage? It’s not about the quantity of reading or the length of time. Quality is what matters.

The Lord wants to speak to your heart. Let Him by reading Scripture.

This month Bishop Thomas Olmsted will be speaking to RFR listeners via daily Rosary Program.

Thank you Bishop Olmsted. Remember the power of uniting in prayer.

Hope in a Time of CrisisJames Peck, President of Radio Family Rosary Board, said that today more than ever, we need hope. Hope is the foundation of our faith, for “in hope we are saved” (Romans 8:24). Pope Benedict XVI wrote an encyclical focused on Christian hope, Spe Salvi. RFR will broadcast a two-part reflection on his teaching. You can find a transcript of the broadcast on the Radio Family Rosary website under the “articles”tab.

Please check our website regularly and follow RFR on social media for updates that will strengthen our hope in these challenging times.

ABC’s of Divine Mercy - A Summary:+ Ask for God’s Mercy+ Be merciful like Our Father+ Completely trust in Jesus

The Divine Mercy revelations by Jesus to St. Faustina make a twofold request:1 . Trust. Complete confidence in Jesus.2. . Deeds of mercy - the daily practice of mercy

towards one’s neighbor.

Divine Mercy has become a leading devotion of the 21st Century. It is to St. Faustina, a humble Polish nun with only three years of formal education, that Jesus revealed His Unfathomable Mercy. He referred to her as His Secretary of Mercy. St. John Paul II canonized her as first saint of the 21st Century. He established Divine Mercy Sunday as the first Sunday following Easter. Today Divine Mercy is one of most popular devotions. It reaches all ends of the world.

Responding to the Divine Mercy Message+ Say often, “Jesus, I trust in you.”+ Show mercy by daily prayer, penance, words and deeds.+ Pause at 3 p.m. to remember Jesus’ passion.+ Receive Reconciliation and make Spiritual Communions + Make Holy Hours at home, Spiritual Communions through the day.

See page 4.+ Pray Chaplet of Divine Mercy daily. See program page.+ Display Divine Mercy image of Jesus in your home.+ Solemn Novena starts on Good Friday. Order materials now to share.

Spiritual Communion PrayerMy Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen. Prayed often on EWTN. Prayer cards available through EWTN.

We are truly blessed that during this time of crisis we have access through Catholic media for: daily Mass, Rosary, Adoration, chaplets and many other Catholic devotions.
