Have Plumbing Problems? You Must Read These Tips!
There are some that contain strong chemicals that can actually cause damage to your pipes.
Always be sure to pick a brand that has been announced that it is gentle on pipes. The
harshest chemicals can eat away at your pipes, kill helpful bacteria and even affect your own
health.
Place a strainer over the drains to collect anything that could clog and cause stoppage. Your
kitchen sink strainer needs cleaning every time something big gets stuck in it. Strainers
placed in a bathtub can be cleaned periodically.
Sticky substances like bananas, chicken skin and pumpkin pulp can clog your drain even if
they go through the blades. Sift your food for difficultly-ground materials like these so you can
throw them away, then put the rest of your food down the disposal.
To lessen the chances of toilet problems, do not use as a place to put trash. Nothing should
be flushed down the toilet except human waste and toilet tissue. Flushing sanitary napkins,
diapers, disposable napkins, and other materials is a sure recipe for a clogged drain and a
backed-up toilet. As well, use just enough toilet paper to clean yourself!
Check out any loose tiles to see if they are indicative of water damage. As the tile gets wet
from a water leak, the tiles may start to come loose, and you need to check and see if that's
the case. You can more quickly deal with a problem if you pay attention to your tiles in time.
Be sure to clean your dryer's lint trap. By doing this simple task, you can circumvent a great
deal of trouble. including prevention of fires. Always check your lint trap for damage, such as
holes or tears. This could allow lint to enter your pipes, leading to clogs or other plumbing
complications.
Water heaters often have a pipe that reaches from the drain pipe and this must be
reconnected during installation of a new unit. It is most likely a recirculation pipe, which really
goes a long way to help your water stay heated without wasting as much water in the
process.
If you see unwanted water that keeps draining into your dishwasher, the problem is most
likely a hose running to your kitchen sink that was not correctly installed. The hose that runs
from your kitchen sink to your dishwasher needs to be positioned uphill, and then bend back
downhill to prevent the water from each device mixing.
Over time, sediment buildup may lead to problems with low water pressure. Often, this
problem can be addressed by thoroughly cleaning out the aerator. Remove the aerator, and
then take it apart so it can be cleaned with a brush that has been dipped in vinegar.
Thoroughly rinse off the aerator, put it back together and place it back on the faucet. This
should remove any obstructions that were in the aerator, thereby improving your water
pressure.
