Get your mouth ready
• Turn to the person next to you and read this paragraph into your phonics phone. Listen to the beginning, middle and ending sounds you hear echo in the phone. Sometimes this is the only cue a student will need in order to decode a word.
• After you read –Throw the Clifford Ball to individual students. If their thumb lands on the head, they must name the beginning sound. If their thumb lands on the tail they must name the ending sound.
