Officers' Association, A&N Islands expressed gratitude to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration for his intervention in the matter of regularisation of services of seven Temporary Status Mazdoors (TSMs) of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM). It was a long pending issue and resolved only after the Association brought it into the notice of the Chief Secretary for his intervention in view of the agitation notice served to the Principal, JNRM by the JNRM Sub- Committee of the Association demanding early settlement of the issue. The Principal, JNRM, Port Blair regularised the services of seven TSMs recently subsequent on receipt of necessary approval from the Andaman and Nicobar Administration. Earlier, the Lt. Governor had relaxed the age criterion in the Recruitment Rules for regularisation of services of the TSMs of JNRM against the existing vacant Group 'C' posts in JNRM. The Association also conveyed its gratitude to the Secretary, Education and the Principal, JNRM for their initiatives towards regularisation of 7 No. employees who were in service as TSMs from 1994. NEW DELHI, APRIL 26 /--/ The Congress today appointed senior leader Kamal Nath as president of its Madhya Pradesh unit and Jyotiraditya Scindia as campaign committee chief ahead of elections in the state expected later this year, said a statement from the party. The party also appointed Girish Chodankar as the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief for Goa, replacing Shantaram Naik who had resigned a few days ago. "Congress president Rahul Gandhi has cleared the appointment of Nath as PCC president of Madhya Pradesh and Scindia as chairman, Campaign Committee of the state," AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot said in a statement. The party also appointed four working presidents Bala Bachhan, Ramnivas Rawat, Jitu Patwari and Surender Chaudhary -- in the Madhya Pradesh state unit. The appointments come a few months before the state Assembly elections, where the Congress is seeking to wrest power from the BJP. The chief ministerial candidate has not yet been decided as the choice still seems open with both Nath and Scindia in the race, a party leader said. The decision to appoint Nath and Scindia is being seen as a balancing act in the faction-ridden party in the poll-bound state.
