ANU Advancement has been building the philanthropic foundations upon which the University plans to launch its first significant and comprehensive fundraising campaign. Staffed by a collaborative team of professionals, Advancement is committed to strong and meaningful engagement with its many communities, and to generating the philanthropic support and alumni engagement required to maximise impact and reach our ambitious goals.
The recent development of our Institutional Case for Support and focus on thematic giving has created momentum and energy across the University. Complemented by the development of an educational advancement program, we are creating a philanthropic culture that is embedded across all of ANU.
The newly established position of the Vice-President (Advancement) is a member of the University Executive, reporting to and working closely with the Vice-Chancellor. The arrival of the Vice-President reflects the University’s commitment to philanthropy and alumni engagement as a strategic priority, and the elevated importance and role of ANU Advancement in achieving the University’s goals.
Though early in its advancement journey, ANU begins with many advantages, in particular our unique position as the National University. We are able to connect with alumni, donors, friends and those previously unaffiliated with the University, who are excited by our vision, energy and commitment to improving our world through education, research and innovation.

Canberra is designed to maximise the quality of life, built on a blueprint that connects people with community and nature, Canberra provides you the opportunity to create a unique work/life balance, wherever you choose to live.
Where to Live
The architects who designed Canberra, Walter and Marion Burley Griffin, had a master plan to create a series of ‘satellite cities’ separated by nature reserves and connected with major roads. Today their vision lives on, with Canberra divided into seven distinct regions of residential suburbs, each serviced by a central business district.
The resulting benefits are that commuting times are short. Employment hubs are virtually on your doorstep and recreational facilities are within walking distance, regardless of where you live.
Find information on each district and the suburbs contained within them through the ‘Explore Canberra’ map.
Education and Childcare
Canberra nurtures the pursuit of dreams from the ground up. Here families are provided with the supportive services, facilities and environments to raise happy, inspired and resilient children. Community is crucial for the support of families and Canberra has a number of ways to connect families with each other through playgroups, family events and activities.
