Research Paper Formatting

Start by opening up Microsoft Word under “All Programs:”

Name and Save your assignment

Create the Correct Format: Under the “Insert” tab, slide the mouse over to header and choose from the drop down menu,

“Blank,”

From choosing “Blank” the document will appear as shown below:

Under the design tab, select the checkbox, “Different First Page.”

Select “The Right Align” button from the “Home” tab:

Type in your first and last name:

Change font size to 12 and use, “Times New Roman,” from the drop down menu:

Close the header/footer button, under the, “Header and Footer Tools,” tab and/or double click the document to return to the

main body of the page:

Next, go back to the “Insert” page and select “Page Break” from the menu options:

Now that you’re on page 2, select “Insert” tab “Header”

Select “Home” tab with “Right Align“ button selected.

Type in “Last name” only:

Press “Spacebar” one time:

Go to “Header and Footer Design” tab, and use the page number icon:

Select the “Plain Number” option:

The page number will auto insert behind the name:

Check the font and size from the “Home” tab (making certain they are the same as the first

page #12 and Times New Roman)

Once the “font and size” have been changed double-click on the main body of the document or go to the “Header and Footer”

tab and choose the “Close” option.
