Elevation -- One Church - Two LocationsDr. T. L. Carmichael, Sr., Senior Pastor and Overseer and First Lady, Dr. Rebecca Carmichael
East Campus: Pastor Joshua Carmichael, 5271 EBC Village Way, Knightdale, NC 27545| West Campus: 4729 New Bern Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27610 | 919-231-6418
Every follower of Jesus Christ is enlisted in God’s army. And like it or not, we all enter the battlefield daily. But God tells us in His Word, “… be not afraid.” (Joshua 1:9) Courage is a characteristic of every successful Christian. The Bible is full of examples of courageous people -- Moses, Joshua, David, Esther and many more -- who allowed their faith in God to guide their steps. Courage is necessary if we are to fulfill our purpose in life.
But being a courageous soldier in God’s army involves more than fighting personal battles. We must also be prepared to fight for the lost. God called every believer to evangelize. We can find our marching orders in Matthew 28:16-20. As soldiers in God’s army, we must be obedient and committed believers who want to see the lost saved. We must share our story of salvation to those who do not know Christ.
Every soldier must train for battle. If we are to be courageous
and strong, we must remember basic training:1. Read God’s Word. A strong, courageous soldier in God’s army reads the Bible daily. Use a Bible reading plan and establish a time for studying God’s Word.
2. Pray God’s Word. It is important to have a strategy for your prayer life which includes: (1) regular prayer time; (2) incorporating Scriptures in your prayers; (3) keeping a prayer journal to record your prayers and to record when God answers your prayers; and (4) joining corporate prayer weekly on our prayer line and at every opportunity.
3. Share God’s Word. As you evangelize to people in need of salvation, be prepared to share God’s Word. A few Scriptures to consider include: Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; John 3:3; John 14:6; Romans 10:9-11; 2 Corinthians 5:15; and Revelation 3:20.
Don’t allow fear to paralyze you. On the battlefield for the Lord we must go from being self reliant to being God reliant. Rely on your faith in God to carry out your assignment with courage. Be a courageous soldier for God.
Amazed by His Grace,Dr. T.L. Carmichael, Sr.
Since you excel in so many ways—in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love from us— I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving. (2 Corinthians 8:1-9.)
