HEALTH, REALITY, USABILITY, & SECURITYMid-Term Progress Report
Nicholas DeSalvo
Advisor – Larry Shi
Outline• Introduction• Augmented Reality Project• Epilepsy Project• Mobile Usability Project• Phone Security Project• Conclusion
Augmented Reality Projects• Problems:
• Research current approaches and develop an augmented reality system that can aid autistic children
• Research current approaches and develop an augmented reality system that aids the visually impaired.
Augmented Reality Projects• What have I done:
• Completed study on existing research• Put together hardware and the software needed to utilize the
hardware (for reality re-projection)• Aided in integration of analyzing software• Testing• Survey ways to export meshes
• What needs to be done:• Implement ways to export mesh
and import into OpenGL
Mobile Usability Project• Research Problem:
• Create a seamless security solution for to prevent unauthorized access or otherwise device tampering when a device is willingly shared• Example: You provide your phone to an
individual to take your picture but while doing this they access bank applications
Mobile Usability Project• What have I done:
• Completed study to be sure idea is feasible and not previously executed
• Worked with labmate to create a survey (which you all have taken, Thank You!) to gauge needs (market research)
• What needs to be done:• Get more survey submissions• Analyze results• …
Phone Security• Research Problem:
• Create a test device for the Tizen operating system and port the current solution we have developed that is implemented on the iPhone and Android OS’s
Phone Security• What have I done:
• Have gotten environment set up for Tizen development• Identified development system that can be used with Tizen• Identified possible solutions to run Android applications on the
Tizen OS
• What needs to be done:• Order development boards and assemble development system• Need to create and flash image to device for testing and
development• Test the solution and depending upon results take appropriate next
steps
Conclusion• Lot of work do to, but not enough time!
