IntroductionThis plan has been developed collectively with community input through the Community Strategic plan, local health service providers and by the City’s Environmental Health Officers, Planners, Engineers, Human Resources, Building Services, Community Services, Technical staff and the Healthy Lifestyles Team to motivate a change in attitude towards health services and health promotion and inspire new processes for creating a healthy community. Strategies have been formed from the community’s aspirations for their community, to which the Healthy Lifestyles plan will add value to various plans implemented across the City.
The Plan aims to address the physical, social, cultural and economic factors impacting on people’s health and wellbeing, especially for those in the community at risk. It is designed to complement rather than duplicate Council’s existing planning frameworks and strategies. The Plan focuses on disease prevention by supporting and enhancing the community’s ability to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
