4-H Welcomes You!
Georgia 4-H provides experiences for young people to learn by doing. 4-H’ers complete hands-on projects in our focus areas of Agriculture and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), Healthy Living, and Civic Engagement. They receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Youth can experience 4-H in every county of the state through in-school and after-school programs, community clubs, project work, and 4-H camps. (homepage - Georgia4H, 2020)
Gilmer County 4-H programs are available to all youth ages 9 -19. There are opportunities for in-volvement in special 4-H activities such as camps, conferences, field trips, team judging events, etc. The Gilmer County 4-H program encourages students to learn by doing. It is free to join 4-H and there are no uniforms. 4-H provides all materials for in-school meetings and some county programs. Extra-curricular 4-H activities such as fun days, camps, summer classes, specialty clubs haves fees to cover training, travel, and expenses. We look forward to working with you and your family this year. The UGA Extension – Gilmer County office is located at, 1123 Progress Rd., Ellijay, GA 30540.
The Healthy Habits Grant is sponsored by the Wal-Mart Foundation. The purpose of the grant is to promote healthy eating using recommended nutritional guidelines and to encourage physically active lifestyles among youth.
