HEAT PUMP RANGE
ENERGY RECOVERY AND TECHNOLOGY
The PHV DXE range of air curtains has been developed in a collaboration between Thermoscreens, the market leading manufacturer of high quality air solutions and the leading environmental control manufacturer Mitsubishi Electric.
Heat pumps are movers of heat energy and upgrade naturally occurring low temperature heat from the surrounding outdoor air into useful high temperature heat which can then be used to reduce the primary fuel consumption of mechanical equipment. As heat pumps require less that a third of the power of an equivalent direct electric air curtain, they are considerably cheaper to run.
The retro fi t of a heat pump is easy and not expensive. The heat pump unit is usually installed on the top of a building or on the facade. The air curtain is installed above the door opening as usual and connected to the
heat pump. The air curtain and heat pump is controlled via a Mitsubishi interface integrated in the air curtain. This allows a high degree of effi ciency and high COP’s up to 3.7.
Both Thermoscreens and Mitsubishi Electric are re-sponding to a growing market for highly effi cient equip-ment that delivers exceptional performance in the most energy effi cient way possible.
Heat pumps upgrade naturally occurring energy from the outdoor air via a refrigerant gas (R410A) and transmit this energy to an air curtain.

HEAT PUMP RANGE
APPLICATIONThe range is available as either surface mounted or recessed models. The recommended maximum door height of an installation is 3.75m.
AIR CURTAINThe surface mounted PHV DXE range is manufactured in a contemporary design. The steel casing, including the removable front panel, is fi nished in standard RAL 9010. The recessed unit is designed with a combined inlet and outlet grille. Tangential fans provide a constant and comfortable air stream.
HEAT PUMPThe air curtain PHV DXE is equipped with a Mitsubishi Electric interface. This allows an easy connection to Mr. Slim Power Inverter and Zubadan Inverter heat pumps. The systems are aligned and allow optimal functioning.
EFFICIENCYThe independent BRE Institute ( Building Research Establishment,UK) analysed the effi ciency of the whole system. A COP of 3.7 was achieved. This can vary bet-ween 2.4 and 3.7 depending on the outdoor temperature and operating performance.
BENEFITS
Advanced modern technology Reduced running costs Reduced carbon emissions Signifi cant payback period Easy to install and maintain High energy effi ciency through inverter technology Allows open door policy

CONTROL OPTIONS
MANUAL CONTROLThe Thermoscreens air curtain have the option of a stand alone remote controller when the air curtain is not controlled by BEMS ( Building Energy Manage-ment System ).
This controller has the following functions
- 50% or 100%
- Ambient/heat switch
- Auto Mode ( to ensure consistent comfort levels are thermostatically maintained)
DIRTY FILTER INDICATORThermoscreens install a Dirty fi lter Indicator in every heat pump air curtain to indicate when the fi lter needs cleaning. The fi lter indicator schedule is based on fan operating hours and helps the customer to maintain and service the air curtain appropriately.
ADDITIONAL OPTIONS
Standard colour RAL 9010, other RAL colours available on request
Additional electrical heating for defrost period
