Administrator’s Accents Effective Sept. 1, Heathwood has changed from Spectrum to Retirement Home TV. A notification was sent out to families and residents in August addressing the changes and what steps need to be taken for a smooth transition. Please make sure you have the original remote for your TV so you’ll be able to access your new channels. If you do not have the original remote, a universal one will work. All Spectrum equipment that is under our contract will be returned by us. If you have any other services through them it will have to be returned by you. A TV channel menu will be given to each resident (in their mailbox) and copies can be located at the front desk. Sunday, Sept. 13-Saturday, Sept. 19, we celebrate National Assisted Living Week: “Caring is EssentiAL” is this year’s theme which highlights the incredible care provided by essential caregivers in assisted living facilities across the country. Personality Profile Arnie and Pat Sprague have been married for over 60 years. Arnie grew up in Saranac Lake and Pat grew up in Rochester. Arnie moved to Rochester in his mid-teens when his father took a job at Stromberg- Carlson. Arnie met Pat through his sister on New Year’s Eve 1955. He knew when he first saw her that she was the one for him. They started dating and less than a year later, they got married. They wanted to start a family immediately, and today they have four wonderful children and five grandchildren. Pat spent most of her younger married life as a great wife and mother raising her children. Once the children were grown, she drove a school bus and was beloved by the students and parents. Arnie was a very successful business man. He owned a small grocery store in Irondequoit called Lake Bluff Delicatessen. He later got into real estate and became a broker for his own real estate company called Pinnacle Real Estate on Main Street in the city. Arnie considers himself a workhorse and still works at loaning out money for mortgages. Arnie and Pat both love country western music and they loved to dance. They also used to do a lot of camping with the family. When asked about what advice they would have for the younger generation, Arnie replied “Pay attention in school.” Pat’s advice was, “Don’t be in a hurry to grow up.” We welcome Arnie and Pat to our Heathwood family and are glad that they picked Heathwood to become their new home.
