OBO testing standard
DIN EN 50085-2-2 specifies the load requirements forelectrical installation systems. According to this stand-ard, cassettes may only bend by a maximum of 6 mmwhen subjected to a load. However, with harder floorcoverings, such as stone or tiles, bending of 6 mmwill lead to breakage. For this reason, OBO has in-creased its internal quality criteria and goes a stepfurther with the OBO testing standard: The maximumbend for heavy-duty systems was reduced from 6 mmto 2 mm. The tests according to the OBO testingstandard take place in the company's own BET TestCentre.

OBO heavy-duty classes
ClassificationDIN EN 50085-2-2 divides the load capacities of elec-trical installation duct systems into two classes.The classifications rate the articles according to resist-ance to vertical loads that act over a small (6.102) orlarge (6.103) surface area. The 6.103 classificationand the test results from the BET Test Centre servedas a basis for the development of the internal OBOclassification into heavy-duty classes SL1 and SL2.Products of heavy-duty class SL1 are suitable forloads of up to 10 kN, whilst products of heavy-dutyclass SL2 are even suitable for loads of up to 20 kN.The maximum bending for both heavy-duty classes is2 mm.

The screed-covered solution
The screed-covered heavy-duty solution consists ofsix system components: The underfloor ducts, under-floor sockets, heavy-duty supports, heavy-duty mount-ing lids, height adjustment units and heavy-duty cas-settes. The 2 or 3-compartment underfloor ducts areused for cable routing and can easily be connected tothe prepared installation openings of the underfloorsockets. The underfloor sockets permit the installationof heavy-duty cassettes for inspection purposes or forthe mounting of installation accessories such assockets, data or multimedia technology. The heavy-duty supports and the special heavy-duty mounting lidprovide the necessary stability. The heavy-duty cas-settes are inserted in the heavy-duty mounting lid,allowing access to the installed installation devices.
Underfloor junction and branch box
The underfloor sockets of the nominal sizes 250 and350 must have a non-positive connection to thescreed. To avoid a reduction in the load capacity anddamage to the floor covering, no edge insulationstrips can be laid around the underfloor junction andbranch box.

Heavy-duty cassettes
Heavy-duty cassettes are suitable for creating inspec-tion openings or for the installation of devices in areaswith high load requirements. The cassettes are ad-equately dimensioned for absorbing traffic loads andare rated for individual static loads up to 10 kN (SL1)or 20 kN (SL2). The GRAF9 service outlet is availablefor smaller loads up to 7.5 kN.
Heavy-duty mounting lid
The heavy-duty mounting lid is selected according tothe appropriate heavy-duty cassette. The height ad-justment units enable the screed-flush height adjust-ment of the heavy-duty mounting lid and are to beordered separately.
Heavy-duty supports
Heavy-duty supports are additional expansion partsfor underfloor sockets and increase the load capacity.The supports are inserted in the corner areas of theunderfloor box and are tensioned under the socketframe.
Ducts
The screed-covered ducts are only subjected to loadsduring the mounting period. Before screed laying, theducts are classified with a load capacity of 750 N ac-cording to DIN EN 50085-2-2. After screed laying, noloads impact on the ducts, as the screed accepts theloads as a static layer. For this reason, underfloorducts from the standard product range can also beused in areas with high load requirements. 2 and 3-compartment underfloor ducts from the EÜK screed-covered duct system are available.

Frame height for the floor covering in the lid(red dimensions)The frame height data relates to the maximum floorcovering thickness, including adhesive. The cassettesare available in various frame heights.
Floor cut-out for the installation of cassettes(blue dimensions)The dimensions for the floor cut-out should be con-sidered as target dimensions for correct installation ofthe cassette in the floor. They are only generally re-quired for the floor cut-out in system floors. The EÜKscreed-covered duct system or the OKA open trunk-ing system offer prefabricated mounting lids withmatching installation openings.
Internal dimension of the lid to determine the floorcovering cut-out (black dimensions)The dimension data relates to the internal dimensionof the cassette lid and is used to calculate the floorcovering cut-out. Depending on the type of floorcovering, appropriate reductions should be taken intoaccount, e.g. for expansion gaps.
Minimum floor structure height(raw concrete ceiling to finished floor)The dimension describes the minimum floor structureheight from the raw concrete ceiling to the top edgeof the finished floor. It guarantees correct installationand use of installation devices, such as sockets, dataand multimedia connections.

Planning checklist
When planning heavy-duty systems, the following points should be ob-served:
Match floor structure, payloads andarea loads
Observe the minimum installation depthsof device installation units
The underfloor socket must sit entirely onthe concrete floor. Cavities under thesocket strongly reduce the loadcapacity
The underfloor socket must have anon-positive connection to the screed.Do not apply a separating strip betweenthe underfloor socket and the screed
Work floor coverings exactly up to theopening of the blanking lid,e.g. Graf9 Ø 305+1 mm
Stick down the floor coverings onto thesurface of the underfloor boxes and in thecover of the cassettes fully and firmly
