Many traditional Hebrewpraise and worship songs

base their lyrics on Scripture.

The song ‘Kadosh’ is basedon Revelation 4:8,

although the traditional Orthodox Siddur

has a similar tune.

Most major English translations render the word

‘kadosh’ as ‘holy’.

However, since phonicsare so important

in Hebraic thought,

and since the term ‘holy’appears to have pagan origins, we normally prefer the original

The translation of the word‘Kadosh’ actually means

something more like ‘set-apart’, ‘untainted’, or ‘undefiled by the world’.
