Fostering Independence
We would encourage students to
communicate with us themselves for
general day to day concerns or
absences rather than relying on their
parents to do this for them
If you, as parents, have any real
concerns that you need to bring to our
attention or discuss then of course we
are available to help via email or
telephone

Linear A Levels – All subjects
Students sit all of their exams at the end of the
two year course.
29 June - 10 July 2020: Students will sit mock
exams in all subjects. They need to secure a
grade D as a minimum to progress onto the
second A level course.
Students on 4 A levels will most likely deselect
their weakest subject moving into year 13

BTEC Qualifications
Students will sit a mixture of externally marked exam papers (25% weighting), internal practical assignments and internal research assignments.

A LEVEL TARGET GRADES
These have now been set based on your
son or daughter’s average GCSE point
score
Students will have a single target grade
across all subjects (called an ALPS target)
These targets are minimum expected
grades

Independent Learning
Bridging the gap between GCSE and A level Students must rapidly change their work
habits to cope with the demands of A level and Level 3 BTEC qualifications
Falling behind in year 12 will have a
cataclysmic impact on final outcomes
