Dear friends,

“Chile para Cristo”

Right now I am sitting in the Bible Society with another 20 pastors planning the big Jesus March for 31 October. This is part of my more public ministry as a bishop these days. We are also planning a national prayer chain for Chile and half vigil on 26 September. This Saturday we are holding a press conference for leaders of the evangelical world that are saying publicly that they will not vote for any “abortionist” candidate for Parliament.

Church Planting

Hilary and I have been able to travel together as we hold confirmations all over the nation. Together with the Sunday service, we are holding

training seminars for leaders seeking to plant churches out of every church we visit. In this way we have seen new missions spring up this year in Puerto Natales, Porvenir, Iquique and Osorno. It is a wonderful way to spend our “returning years” planting more and more churches! We take advantage of taking a day or two off each time, resting and seeing Chile. We are loving it!

Our second storey, finished this year, is already completely full in our 11:30am service, three quarters full at the 7pm service and half full at the 10am

Caminemos Juntos

29 September to 1 October will see our first international Caminemos Juntos conference which we are hosting, where we will be receiving folks from as far as Africa (Bishop Benjamin Kwasi), Brazil (Bishop Miguel Uchoa), USA (Jonathan Kindberg) and many others from all over the Province of South America. We will be exploring Anglican ways of modelling multiplication and mobilisation of the churches, prayer and intercession, the Holy Spirit and mission, Biblical truths today, renewal of leadership structures and others as well as launching the Church Planting Guide which we have been preparing for so long.

Family

We have Ryan and Mariana and their four children living

with us at present as they had to hand over the house they wanted to buy. It is being a healing and edifying time with them all. We had a sad funeral when the baby due to Fernando and Paulie, (our Moya in-laws’ son and wife) died in the ninth month. One light in the midst of all this was Jahnn and Ara´s

surprising visit, financed in great measure by Mark and Dani. So we had a refreshing family time touching base with all, Melanie and Alan included when they returned from their trip to the north.

When furlough?

We need to discern God´s plan for what will probably be our last furlough as Church Mission Society mission partners (although we will most probably remain as mission associates). Please pray with us in this for direction and wisdom.
