This is us
We are 14 and 15 years old.We are finishing school in December this year.Next year we are going to start a high school and
finish in three years.
This is what we would like you to know about our town
• Bahía Blanca is a big town on the Atlantic Ocean. The population is around 300,000.
• There is an important port near the town. We export wheat, soya, sunflower seed and fruit.
• There are two universities here and a big theatre.• We also have two shopping centres.• The most popular sport is basketball. One of the best players
from Bahía Blanca is Emanuel Ginóbili, who plays for the San Antonio Spurs, a famous club in the USA.
This is what we would like you to know about our school
• Our school is called Ciclo Básico Común. We spend three years here before starting high school.
• We study maths, geography, Spanish, biology, computer science, history, English as a foreign language and also do gymnastics.
• This is a big school. There are 30 courses and about 800 students.
• We come to class in the afternoon, from 1.15 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Monday to Friday and do gymnastics in the morning. There are also classes in the morning.

About my family: - My family came from Italy and Spain like immigrants.- One of the most important tradition here is the pasta. It was brought to Argentina by the Italians, and the mate-cocido is Italian too.- My grandmother told me that her grandmother came like an immigrant by ship, totally alone, to work in the fields because lands were very cheap.

Andrea FaillaHello My name is Andrea, I’m 14 years old. I live with my mum and dad but I’ve one brother and one sister living in another village. My great-grandfather came to Argentina from Italy in the XIX century, because in those years in Italy there was the Second World War and a big famine.

My maternal grandfather went from Chile with his brother by train and my maternal grandmother went from Chile by train too, with a family friend. They met and fell in love in Bahía Blanca, in Argentina.
My maternal grandfather brought us the tradition of eating “ñaco” (ground maize) with warm water.
My paternal grandfather lived in Bolivar in Argentina, as my paternal grandmother. They met and fell in love there. Then they went to Bahía Blanca and married here.
My paternal great-grandmother taught my grandmother as doing a type of bread and that accompanies the dinner.
