Hello! We are 2am. We’re really chuffed that you want to know a bit more about the creative operation we’ve got going on over here, so let us give you a flavour of what we’re all about.
Through 2am Media and 2am Design, we challenge and push the
limits of creative design and digital media through imaginative and
innovative solutions. We go beyond the one-size-fits-all approach
that has become increasingly common within the industry by
providing a bespoke service to each and every client, being flexible
in our methods, adapting to changing practices, and embracing
and encouraging creativity.
We know that being our creative and genuine selves is the secret
to our success, and by practicing what we preach we have seen
customers put their trust in us for over two decades.
Let’s get started thenYou’re probably pretty keen to hear a bit about what we can do
for you, right? As a company with so much experience and steely
determination we will turn our hand to anything, so we could go on
all day about the endless avenues we can take you down. You don’t
have time for that (and we are hoping that you’ll still have your eyes
open when you have finished reading this document so you can give
us a call or drop us a line), so we’ll keep it snappy.
Getting those creative juices flowingYou’ve got the idea, we’ve got the means to make it happen, so the
first stage in the process is getting our heads together. We want to
know exactly where you’re at, where you’ve come from and where
you want to be, so that we can tailor a strategy that is really going to
work. We’re a pretty intimate bunch here at 2am and we all have our
areas of expertise (kind of like Mastermind specialist subjects, only
way more geeky!), so we love a good brainstorm. It really is a team
effort over here and we think you’ll be confident that every element
of your project is being supported and developed by those with
the know-how.
Beautiful brandingWhether you are looking to start from scratch, have a completely
radical change or just fine-tune an already fabulous idea, our
creative director will give you some food for thought. Based on your
brief we will develop several brand identities for you to choose from
and keep evolving these until we hit the nail on the head. We have
over 20 years experience in this area so we do really know our eggs!

When laying the foundations for any website, we focus on two things:
functionality and design.
We spend time developing a sitemap that includes all the information
you want to see on your site and, more importantly, what your
customer wants to see. We fine-tune the layout to make sure that it’s
structured in a way that gets the results you want and exceeds the
expectations of the end-user.
When we have this pinned down we get to work on a wire frame
design that will start to bring your website to life. This essential part
of the planning process allows you to get a feel for what we are going
to create for you and allows us to iron out any creases before we
flesh out the bones.

with all the information we need about your goals and the needs
of your clients, we create a design that ticks all the boxes. All our

We fully believe that a jack-of-all-trades is master of none, which

WordPress – a fully customisable industry standard CMS platform
that gives you control, WordPress allows you to include an almost

The Magento platform allows navigation of the website to be

System, which allows you to update and manage products,
categories, promotions, order details, customer details, general page
content and many other features. But we don’t just expect you to
become an Internet guru overnight, which is why we provide a full
user manual and in-house training to get you up to speed.

Pete Stubbs – Managing Director
A modern-day Aristotle, his famous Peteisms offer the team a
philosophical mantra to work and live by. Everyone at 2am aims to
“Kill two bricks with one bird” and “Put the balls in motion”.
For the past decade, Pete has nurtured every aspect of the company,
from the clients and the staff to our renowned brand reputation. You
won’t catch Pete in a fancy suit sat in a leather-clad chair barking
orders; he’ll have his sleeves rolled up and be getting stuck into your
project like the rest of the team.
Nikki Carter – Office Manager
Taking on the motherly role at 2am, Nikki is constantly conflicted with
the need to nurture the team and the desire to strangle them. Good
job she has the patience of a saint!
As the Office Manager, Nikki is the oil in the 2am cogs. She makes sure
that the studio workload flows efficiently, that projects are timely and
that everyone has a smile on their face. Everyone knows that if you
want something done you ask mum and that, usually, mum knows
best.
John Graham – Creative Director and Senior Designer
If moaning were a career option, the world of creative design would
never have experienced John Graham. Luckily for us, it’s not.
As the Creative Director at 2am, John is the start and the end point for
all our big ideas. With over a decade of experience working at 2am
and more besides working in the design industry, he really does know
how to get the job done.
Daryl Brunsden – Web Developer
As Northern as they come, Daryl enjoys immediately vocalising his thought
process, with little regard for the consequences. Bringing us gems like;
“It’s not wrong it’s just different knowledge!” since 1990.
Daryl is the sort of web developer that every agency wishes they had. With
an eye for detail that borders on obsessive, Daryl makes sure that every
website that leaves the studio is perfect, right down to the last line of code.
Mark Tierney – Web Developer
Every creative environment needs a good dry sense of humour,
and Mark fills the quota with contributions so arid they could rival
the Sahara.
When it comes to building websites Mark knows his stuff, making him
the one-stop-shop for tech support. He will usually be found fixing
bugs and saving the world of web design one line of code at a time.
Emma Fallon - Copywriter
Notorious throughout the North for her tea addiction, Emma should
have a sponsorship from Twinnings. The good news for you is that
the kettle is never cold at 2am!
As the word generator, you tell Emma what you want to say and she
will tell you how to say it.
Stephen Skelly – Web Developer
Between writing code and fixing bugs, Ste always finds time for a
cheese sandwich. If it were socially acceptable to eat them for every
meal, we dare say he would.
No problem is too big for Stephen and ‘impossible’ just isn’t in his
vocabulary. In the creative arena of web design we know that the
solution your business needs may not have an off-the-shelf answer,
but with Ste’s expertise we can make it happen.
We don’t like to bragBut you should know why we’re up to the job. Established for over 20
years, 2am has earned an industry-wide track record for excellence

Eighty One Central Case StudyServices: Branding, illustration, interior design, signage, wall art,
photography
Dates: Commissioned to start: September 2010 – Project
Completed: August 2011
Summary
Eighty One Central, a creative hub run by Blackpool Council,
enlisted 2am to create and develop their brand. This extended to
the interior design of the building and the creation of an inspiring
environment to stimulate imagination and creativity.
Problem
As a new brand and business venture, we were starting with a blank
canvas. In many ways, this afforded us unlimited creativity, but it
also left us without an established guideline to follow and build
upon.
Approach
We conducted research to determine what features the target
audience would be looking for in such a creative environment. We
created a brand based on the ethos of the project and extended
this into the interior design. This was a challenge in itself for us, as
we had to transfer our skills in the studio, on paper and online, to
interior design and layout. We developed mood boards for each
areas of the building, collating our suggestions in terms of colour
schemes and themes, right down to furniture and decoration
choices to keep the whole environment on-brand.
Result
The result is an atmosphere like no other; its fresh approach harbors
a highly creative environment in which to flourish. The style of the
surrounding interior is very eclectic, individual and well thought
out- acting as a microcosm for the who aim of the venture.
Blackpool Unlimited Case StudyServices: Branding, advertising, design for web, exhibition displays,
Date: August 2007 to March 2009 – onging offline advertising
Summary
Strong foundations and the coming together of communities to
continually develop enterprise is the Blackpool Unlimited ethos.
Such solid intent required a robust brand to capture and convey the
message of growth.
Problem
Blackpool Unlimited approached 2am with the brief of designing
and managing a creative brand that complemented and adhered
to the Blackpool Council brand guidelines. They also required
online representation in the form of a website and complementary
professionally branded marketing materials.
Approach
2am created a brand that signified the size and impact of this
project, whilst adhering to existing brand guidelines. We produced
a range of physical marketing materials to support them in the
delivery of their workshops and engagement events.
Designed to engage and encourage interaction, the key to the
website’s success has been a cleverly created multi-faceted
platform allowing a diverse range of users to access the information
they need quickly and easily. From marketing to legislation; health
and safety to funding; the website is constantly updated using
a sophisticated and user-friendly content management system
embedded into the site’s design.
Result
When first approached by Blackpool Unlimited, they had assigned a
three-year target based on their funding. With the help of 2am, they
beat this target within the first year, leading to greater engagement
and funding opportunities. This demonstrates that a complete and
managed marketing package is the route to success.
Blackpool Sixth Form Case StudyServices: Branding, illustration, interior design, signage, wall art,

Summary
When Blackpool Sixth Form began work expanding their campus,
they decided that this would be the ideal time to overhaul their
whole look and embrace their future as a modern and progressive
college.
Problem
For an educational establishment with so much history, we had a
to create a brand that would honour their past but embrace their
future.
Approach
The college chose to shorten their name to from Blackpool Sixth
Form as a sign of the times, as this is what young students referred
to them as. The logo design combines the college’s ‘breaking the
mould’ attitude with homage to the original school shield emblem,
with the ‘smashed’ shield creating the nuclear shards in this modern
brand design.
Result
2am created a dynamic brand that represents the identity
transition of Blackpool Sixth.
