The biggest concern facing retirees today is the fear of outliving their assets. As people live longer, the need for an overall estate plan is critical for all seniors, regardless of net worth. This presentation will include a review of the basic estate planning documents, including wills, trusts and powers of attorney for property and healthcare. The importance of each type of document will be discussed and why you should consider including it in your overall estate plan. Learn why the powers of attorney for property and healthcare, asset protection strategies and life care planning are becoming a more important part of your planning process. This seminar will help you: 1) Better understand a topic that many don’t know a lot about: 2) How to start creating a plan and 3) Determining if you need to review a plan that was done in prior years.

Thursday, August 22, 20199 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Are you a grandparent? Don’t fall for this scam! Each year, hundreds of thousands of people are victims of impersonation scams where criminals try to trick consumers into sending them money by pretending to be someone they are not. The “grandparent scam” is one type that deliberately targets older Americans. To commit this crime, fraudsters call claiming to be a family member in serious trouble and in need of money immediately. The scammer might say he’s stranded or has been mugged, and they may call in the middle of the night to add to the urgency and confusion. Once the money is wired, the victim later finds out that it wasn’t their grandchild they were helping, it was a criminal.

To avoid this type of scam, consider taking the following steps:

• Confirm the caller. Fraudsters are using social networking sites to gain the personal information of friends and relatives to carry out their crimes. Verify the caller by calling them back on a known number or consult a trusted family member before acting on any request.

• Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Fraudsters want to execute their crimes quickly. In this type of scam, they count on fear and your concern for your loved one to make you act before you think. The more questions you ask, the more inclined they will be to ditch the scam if they suspect you’re on to them.

• Never give personal information to anyone over the phone unless you initiated the call and the other party is trusted.

• Never rush into a financial decision and trust your instincts. Don’t be fooled—if something doesn’t feel right, it may not be right. Feel free to say no and get more information before you send money to someone.

Criminals are always out to steal your money, your data and personal information. Marquette Bank gives you unlimited access to identity theft and fraud specialists to help with identity restoration or payment card fraud resolution as part of their FunRewards App. ID Theft Aid is available for any identity or fraud issue in your life, not just your Marquette Bank accounts or cards. In addition to ID Theft Aid, the FunRewards App also includes helpful benefits like: cell phone protection, roadside assistance, and savings deals at local restaurants, shopping, prescriptions and travel. Visit www.emarquettebank.com/FunRewards for more information about your benefits.
