COMMENTS: Ray Algorri and Tom Evans, the ends, were sterling pass receivers, and defended well. A1gorri scored 4 touchdowns, while Evans collected two.

Gerald Perry was an outstending all-around tackle, using his sizeand weight to advantage. Wilbur Snyder, the other tackle, was a standout in'every game. As a tackle, Snyder, by his alert play, chalked up 2 touchdowns, and registered 19 Pb.TS, for 31 points. Snyder weighed 237, an d stood 6' 3".

130b Zelinka, the Fairfax guc:rd, just a l70-pounder, gained All-Cityhonors for tm second straight year. He was a fino blocker, and excelled onde'fense. San Pedro's Fred Grgich was another outstanding guard, and playeda prominent part in the Pirates t success.

jimmy Cellino, Lincoln's splendid center. was only a junior, b~t

he performed this year like a three-year veteran. He was big, weighing 210,and smashed every defense he bucked up against.

Hugh ~roElhenny and Bob Cameron provided W3shington's Generals withthe 1 - 2 punch, and in a big way. McE1henny racked up 18 touchdowns for theseason. far a total of 108 points, while Dameron flipped touchdowns alloverevery lot in which he worked. Bob tossed 8 touchdown pusses during the regularseason, kicked-off 29 times for a 50-yard average, and punted 19 times for a48· ..y~rd average. These two sp';;lled defeat for every team which the Generalswet in 1947 -- the last being Cathedral, in the City vs. e.I.F. game t at theIDS Angeles Coliseum, which the Gen erals Vlon, 43 to 21 -- McElhenny postingI;' touchdowns as his contrihution.

Gardena t s Donc:ld BUhrman, vn 0 was a triple-threat artist in everysense of the word, and only a junior -- and only a 5.foot. 6-inch. 142-pounder-earned his All-City berth. Bahrman passed to 7 touchdowns, rbn to two, (oneon a jaunt of 95 yards) and did the punting for his team.

The blocking back assignment on the hll-City squad went to Franklin'sBob Laskin, a truly fine all-around player. Le.skin. a rugged. 165-pound fullback, not only blocked to perfection t but curried the ball, as well. ~oof

of that is the fact that Laskin nicked the scoring register for 65 points~

Bill Bowers, t he Canoga Park Express, named I'layer of the Year, gained All-City honors for the second time, being named in 1946.
