welcome Tim and Trina Patterson and family would like to welcome you to the 4th Annual on property Broad Leaf Santa Gertrudis Bull Sale. Our family have been breeding Santa Gertrudis cattle since 1985, going on to register the Broad Leaf Santa Gertrudis Stud in 2004 with the aim to produce cattle that are suited to a Central Queensland bullock breeding operation, and ultimately the global beef market.The Bottle Tree Downs breeder herd is selected on fertility, temperament, environmental and market suitability and is the foundation of our stud. A sire for the Broad Leaf Stud is selected with careful consideration given to the Dam line, as we believe that any herd improver in a commercial herd is only as good as the cows he leaves behind. The sale bulls are run on buffel country and forage crops when they are available, then a light preparation on a ration based on silage. This year has been a particularly challenging year given the season, however, the bulls are looking fit and well.All the bulls have been vaccinated with vibrio, 3 day vac, 7 in 1, Semen tested, Morphology evaluated, and are J-Bas 7 accredited. We aim to produce bulls that are fit, healthy and don’t need “letting down”. Broad Leaf cattle are bred in the ticks, flies and heat of Central Queensland to meet the challenges of breeding better quality beef in Northern Australia.The last two seasons have necessitated the sale of our steers and some of our heifers as feeder cattle to feedlots and inevitably they come back to us wanting more, which I believe is a testament to the quality of our product.The challenge for many buyers is buying a bull on a budget and taking home bulls that meet their needs. The Helmsman System offers buyers time to consider their purchases without the pressure and hype of an auction. Last year the Broad Leaf Bulls averaged $4330 selling to a top of $10,000 for Broad Leaf M63 who was selected for stud duties. This would make the Broad Leaf Santa Gertrudis Sale one of the best value for money sales on the Santa circuit, and would be well worth your consideration for some of your bull purchases. Prior inspections are welcomed. We would love to see you at the sale on Monday the 17th of September at 11am.

All 38 bulls have been vet inspected and semen morphology tested. They have all been vaccinated with 7 in 1, 3 day, vibrio and 3 germ blood. All of the bulls have been pre-treated for ticks. Bottle Tree Downs is JBAS 7 compliant. A Supplementary Sheet will be available with Weights, EMA and Fat Scan information on the day.
The vendors will hold bulls after the sale for a period for buyers at no charge. This must be arranged prior to the sale with vendors.
