Fall 2015 HELOTES HUMANE SOCIETY HUNTER, RUBY, AND DOLLY The Tail waggin’ times Dolly (middle) and Ruby (bottom) are two Anatolian Shepherd mix sisters who were found on Scenic Loop Rd. They were horribly under- weight for their size. It was a heartbreaking sight to see them when they first arrived at HHS. Ruby is positive for heartworms and will soon begin her treatment. Both girls have gained weight and are doted on by our Thrift Shop volunteers. We count ourselves lucky to live in Helotes or Northwest San Antonio. We don't face the struggles that many of our San Antonio neighbors do. But to think that we don't see the cast off animals which are the result of overpopulation & neglect is sadly not true. I hope that you will renew your membership in the Helotes Humane Society for 2016. Your continued support is vital to these animals. You can renew your membership by filling out the form in this edition and mailing it in the enclosed envelope. Together we are truly making an impact for dogs like Hunter, Ruby, and Dolly. Dear Supporters, Hunter (top) was found at a gas station near Hwy 1604 and Bandera Rd. He was emaciated and wormy. Luckily he was brought to the Helotes Humane Society for care. But his trials were not over yet. After just a few days he became gravely ill and spent five days in the veteri- nary clinic. He is feeling much better and will soon be welcomed into a foster home where he will continue to recover. Sincerely, Janice MacRossin Executive Director

Dear Supporters,

Hunter (top) was found at a gas station near Hwy 1604 and Bandera Rd. He was emaciated and wormy. Luckily he was brought to the Helotes Humane Society for care. But his trials were not over yet. After just a few days he became gravely ill and spent five days in the veteri-nary clinic. He is feeling much better and will soon be welcomed into a foster home where he will continue to recover.

Sincerely,

Janice MacRossin

From sharks to hot dogs (and even a pig), the 8th Annual Paws on the Patio was a rousing

success. Under a cloudless blue sky on Sunday, October 4th, a record-breaking 1000 people

and 430 dogs enjoyed doggie games, live music, a silent auction, and children’s activities.

We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated and fantastic group of volunteers who worked

so hard to make this event so enjoyable!

Congratulations to this year’s raffle winners: Las Vegas trip—Debbie Henze, TV—Matt

Schaefer, Xbox—Leigh Earl, and Dinner for 4 at Brios—Leigh Earl. Enjoy!!!!
