Dear Friends of St. Xavier Catholic School,

Welcome to St. Xavier’s 32nd annual auction - “A Night to Marvel: Calling All

Superheroes.” The faculty, staff, students, principal, and priests are grateful that you

have chosen to spend the evening with us tonight in support of our school.

This auction allows our parish to continue offering a high-quality Catholic education to

the youth of our parish and community. There is a spirit that dwells within our school

described as nurturing, warm, and welcoming. The students and staff are on a journey

of faith together to become better individuals and to share their God-given gifts.

Through our dynamic curriculum, students are academically challenged, spiritually

transformed, and enriched by service opportunities. The curriculum serves to challenge

each student to achieve their fullest potential, live the message of Jesus Christ, and

become contributing members of society, while ethically developing their personal

character.

We gratefully acknowledge the many generous donors and bidders who help make this

event a success. The tremendous support from our parish and the community is such a

blessing. Your investment in the youth of our parish and community is appreciated.

We hope that everyone has time to appreciate the effort put forth by those who

helped make this night possible. The many gifts of time, talent and treasure that are

present here tonight are examples of how blessed we are as a parish, school, and

community.

We are here to have an enjoyable experience while giving back to the Lord a little of

what He has given us. Tonight is a night to give thanks for the blessings we have

enjoyed since last year’s auction and to lead us into a successful year ahead.

In Loving Memory of Ken Griffin

St. Xavier Parish would like to recognize Ken Griffin, who passed away October 20, 2017. Ken, supported by his beautiful wife Sharon, was involved in spearheading the first St. Xavier School Auction with Monsignor Thomas Keogan and several other outstanding parishioners. They visited parents, parishioners, friends and community members in the 1980s and held the first auction in our parish parking lot. Ken was also greatly involved with our school, church, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Xavier School Council and served as president for ~20 years, allowing him to present all four of his children (Kent (’77), Lisa (‘78), Lynn (‘80), and Melanie (’82) their high school diplomas. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 60 years, during which he held every local position, including Grand Knight and State offices. The interior of the local Knights of Columbus Hall was named Griffin Hall in recognition of his many years of service. Ken’s efforts toward our parish will not forgotten. The tradition he began 32 years ago continues with his children and grandchildren, especially Melanie, who all support this endeavor annually.

Heads or Tails

Purchase a wristband for a suggested donation of $10. Wristbands

must be purchased before the game starts at intermission. To play,

everyone with a wristband stands and faces the emcees on stage.

With each flip of the coin, players choose heads or tails by putting

their hand on their head or tail. Winners of each flip remain standing

until less than 10 players remain. The last 10 standing come toward

the stage and continue the game until a winner is determined.

Winner receives half of the money collected.

Itemless Item

What is the Itemless Item?

This year’s Itemless Item is going toward the construction of a walkway betwee

Buildings A and C that will not involve walking across the gym floor.

The St. Xavier Parish Foundation will once again contribute up to a $10,000

match to this project.

The auctioneer will take the first bid at the $1,000 level. That donor’s number and

amount pledged will be recorded. Then the auctioneer will ask for more

donations. Raise your hand. Each donor’s number and amount pledged will be

recorded. When all bidders with hands raised have been recorded, the

auctioneer will ask everyone (100% of attendees) to write Itemless Item #41 on

their bid card and to make a contribution when they pay as they leave tonight.

The emcee will keep a running total of the amount raised so that when the last

hand has been lowered the auctioneer will announce where we stand and

what is needed from everyone else.
