The very successful cooperation started with a line concept to process a special peanut paste which contains a maximum amount of calories and valuable nutrients in the smallest portion. It was particularly designed for malnourished children (RUTF - Ready to Use Therapeutic Food and RUSF - Ready to Use Supplementary Food) to help prevent the severe bodily harm caused by underfeeding.

Food - a basic need for all humans. Unfortunately, 815 million of the 7.6 billion people worldwide (10.7 %) suffer from chronic undernourishment (according to United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, 2016). At this point, GC Rieber Compact Food became involved.
For generations, saving lives has been the main goal for the Norwegian company. By giving refugees, sailors and victims of war / natural disasters a chance of survival.
Today, Rieber who is a leading supplier within the maritime and humanitarian field producing unique food rations, producing ready-to-use emergency food that is distributed worldwide by non-governmental organizations and even United Nations agencies worldwide.
For the production of this ready-to-use emergency food, the ProXES Group stepped in by providing the line concepts and machinery, allowing Rieber to produce this high quality food product ´for life´!

Resulting in a very successful collaboration with Rieber at all project stages, a second line was recently installed in Cape Town, South Africa and additionally equipped with an automatic dry material feed. For those line concepts, ProXES had to face various challenging requirements concerning the hygienic design, such as, the complete exclusion of water (a necessity for therapeutic food), a very low frequency of system cleaning and a high degree of automation.
The ProXES line concept consists of a highly automated solid ingredients dosing installation that transports the peanuts and other raw dry materials directly to the processing vessel. The STEPHAN Combitherm (CT) cuts the peanuts with high-speed knives under vacuum conditions. One of the reasons why Rieber decided to work with us, was the extremely high fineness of
grinding and the resulting smooth ´mouth feel´. The concept is very versatile and allows a quick recipe change due to the multifunctional options of cutting, mixing, dispersing, emulsifying and heating under pressure and vacuum.
An absolute exclusion of water is necessary, speaking of both ´external´ water (e.g. residues after cleaning) as well as ´internal´ water (natural moisture content of raw materials). Thus, all appliances need to comply with high quality hygienic requirements. It allows for extremely long production cycles, perfectly in response to Riebers tough production schedule and the water exclusion demand. Then, the final peanut paste is held in buffer tanks and transferred to a filling station. After finishing the last production run, the ProXES CIP system is connected to fully clean the equipment.
Now, Rieber is ready to give millions a ration ´for life´!
