OVERUSING HELPING VERBS

• Using Too many helping verbs can start to sound odd

Mom had washed the dog. Or… Mom washed the dog.

Helping verbs are almost always needed in sentences, but when they aren’t needed don’t use them.

My mom did buy me a gift. Or…. My mom bought me a gift.
