This is a Community Nature Reserve owned by Henlow Parish Council and managed for the benefit of the residents and wildlife of Henlow. It is a place for quiet recreation and relaxation and we hope that all visitors, young and old alike, will help us in improving, enjoying and looking after the site. You are welcome to bring your dog here but please keep it under control and don’t let it interfere with the enjoyment of the site by others. Please clean up after your dog. A number of riverside and parkland standard trees have been planted throughout the area behind you; these include oaks, willows and other species. Some of these will develop into a grand avenue highlighting the footpath between here and the adjacent Poppy Hill Lakes complex. An area here has been seeded with wildflowers in order to re-create the rich floral diversity found in traditional meadows of the past. In the future it is hoped that these will spread out and colonise much of the site. The River Ivel passes along the boundary here on its way from near Baldock in Hertfordshire to join the Ouse at Tempsford. Look out for the kingfisher as you walk round. Also keep an eye out for the owl and the otter sculpture, if you are very lucky you might even see a live one.
