This is a great opportunity to get our cars out on the road and get an evaluation by our resident experts on the safety and road worthiness of our flatheads before the summer driving season is upon us. Please feel free to come out and enjoy yourselves. Old iron or new, all are welcome. This is a rain or shine event. Bill is fortunate to have ample room for us even in poor weather, but hopefully we’ll enjoy another beautiful day with our friends and their old Flathead V8’s. Bill Large (586)677-4790. On Monday, May 13, The Early Ford V8 Foundation Museum announced that the Expansion Dedication Celebration was a huge success, with approximately 100 people in attendance to observe the dedication ceremony. I last visited the Foundation Museum after the 2019 EFV8 Grand National Meet in June. There have obviously been a lot of changes and progress since then, as seen in the pictures, here and on page 2. Cars were received from the collections of Joe Floyd, and also from the Frank Corey estate. Members of both families were able to be present at the dedication ceremony. Joe Floyd donated the 18 car collection of 1936 Fords, with one example of each Ford model built in 1936. The highly anticipated Floyd Collection area consists of 10,000+ square feet and the Ford Rotunda. The Rotunda will display Joe’s Stainless Steel Sedan on a turntable, visible from the outside as visitors approach the Museum. The Corey collection includes: 1951 Mercury Sport Sedan, 4 1953 Ford 4 Doors, 3 1956 Fords - 2 town sedans and a Victoria, 1956 Mercury 4 Dr Monterey Sedan, 1957 Mercury Montclair 4 Dr Hardtop, and a 1978 Ford Landau. The Early Ford V8 CLub’s 2019 Central National Meet will be held August 24 - 27 in Auburn, Indiana. This is the closest meet to us other than the Dearborn Grand National Meet. Photo by James Parsons of RG#36 I enjoyed a nice 6 hour round trip drive on Friday, May 10 from my home in Michigan to the Grand Opening of the EFV8 Foundation Museum. It wasn’t a mid-summer day but it was still fine for a fun day in an old noisy flathead. See ’39 convertible pictured below. I got down to Auburn in time for the ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication, had lunch with a buddy, and enjoyed visiting with a few friends and getting a tour of the new displays in the Rotunda Museum. After all the visiting and picture taking, I figured I’d better get started on my way home. The drive home was pleasant, and construction lane closures and traffic were no problem going home. My only problem occurred when I stopped for dinner at a restaurant a half mile from my house. When I came out and tried to restart the engine, no go. No lights, no horn, etc. A broken battery ground wire on the quick disconnect device from the battery to the firewall was the culprit. All the rattling around on our rough roads finally took their toll. Luckily I had another ’39 Ford at home to steal from… Bryan Allen

I enjoyed a nice 6 hour round trip drive on Friday, May 10 from my home in Michigan to the Grand Opening of the EFV8 Foundation Museum. It wasn’t a mid-summer day but it was still fine for a fun day in an old noisy flathead. See ’39 convertible pictured below.
