In addition to these session selections, you may also choose to participate in WORKSHOP SERIES focused on explicit practices such as Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). These series will go beyond introductions and provide you with specific skills and techniques you can take back and apply in your own practice.

The overwhelmingly positive response to last year’s presentation on our future in healthcare, and enthusiastic ratings of Dr. Ron Manderscheid, Executive Director of the National Association of County Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Directors (NACBHDD), have led to a multidimensional KEYNOTE ADDRESS which will go “Beyond the Basic Rhetoric” to prepare us for imminent changes we must face in both our professional and personal lives. Dr. Manderscheid, a national expert on how healthcare reform will impact individuals and communities, will provide an eye-opening address, followed by a lively panel presentation with esteemed experts who will delve deeper into some of the hottest issues - including privatization.

Closing day two will be an equally riveting address by Mr. Chad Hymas, world record wheelchair athlete and world-renowned motivational speaker. Mr. Hymas will embed messages in your mind which will potentially transform your life. Go back to work to achieve the seemingly unachievable!

Following the conference foundation of PARTNERSHIP-BUILDING, other organizations will be joining their educational ventures in Generations 2011. For example, the Utah Psychiatric Association will again explore an adjunct membership / educational program. Recovery Plus, a partnership between the Departments of Human Services and Health, will offer an EXCLUSIVE PRE-CONFERENCE FORUM exploring tobacco-free substance abuse treatment. The science shows that 68% of individuals entering substance abuse treatment use tobacco, yet tobacco negatively impacts recovery rates from other substances. How do we deal with these issues and still attract clients, provide them with the best treatment and meet the bottom line? What are the debates, where are the answers, and what will our future hold? This forum will be offered to a limited number of participants. You may register for this program via the attached “Registration Form” and will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
