Lower Mitten: Rnd 1: (K2, P2) twice, K14 (18), P2, (K2, P2) three times, K14 (18), P2, K2, P2. Repeat Rnd 1 until piece measures 4¼” (4½)” [10.8 (11.4) cm] from CO edge. Thumb Gusset: Rnd 1: (K2, P2) twice, K14 (18), P2, K2, P2, K1, M1, K1, P2, K2, P2, K14 (18), P2, K2, P2 – 57 (65) sts. Set up Rnd: K9 (10), K2tog, K8 (9), K2tog – 19 (21) sts. Knit 4 rnds. Loosely BO sts using basic knit bind off method and weave in ends. Repeat instructions to create a second mitt. Blocking: Weave in ends. Lightly block mittens to finished measurements.
