dear Friends,
I can’t remember whether it was the third or the fourth snowstorm that did it. But somewhere among the digging, tossing, slipping, and sliding I said to myself — “We’ve got to have some Fun this summer at Heritage and we’ve got to put it center stage!”
It doesn’t get more fun, or more classic, than The Sound of Music. and Heritage audiences appreciate the classics in droves. Over the past few years audiences have flocked to shows like Oliver!, South Pacific, and Damn Yankees and we look forward to continuing this tradition by reintroducing the fabulous von Trapps to theatergoers of all ages.
a few years back I stumbled upon a little musical at new york’s Circle in the square Theatre. It was The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. I had long heard the term “side-splitting” referring to comedy. But for the next three weeks I lived it quite literally with every breath I took.
They were the kinds of laughs I’ve grown accustomed to hearing for the past few years every time our audiences visit Tuna, Texas, and this year those laughs are sure to come fast and furious when John paul scheidler and evan Bridenstein treat us to a little Christmas in July, Tuna style!
Barefoot in the Park is a chance to look back at some of the earliest works of a true master. neil simon’s tale of a pair of seemingly mismatched new york newlyweds is still heartwarming after all these years.
While there will be no shortage of fun onstage, we are well aware that these are difficult times off of it. Knowing this makes us more appreciative than ever for all of you who choose to spend your time and your increasingly stretched entertainment dollars to come out and support what we do, whether through your ticket purchases, donations or both.
and we cannot thank you enough for that.
looking forward to seeing you at the theatre!

They say opposites attract. But THen what happens when you find you have nothing in common … except marriage? neil simon’s classic heartwarming comedy follows a different sort of odd couple, showing what happens when a strait-laced attorney marries an unabashed free spirit in 1960’s new york City. as if their differences aren’t challenge enough, the newlyweds start life together in a tiny, leaky fifth-floor walkup that comes complete with a wacky neighbor and an overlong visit from a loopy mother-in-law. It’s simon at his best and an evening of pure fun.
