California Health In All Policies Task Force

Purpose: • Promote health, equity, and sustainability

Structure:• Governor’s Executive Order (2010) and Senate Concurrent Resolution

47 (2012)• Convenes 22 State agencies, departments, offices• Reports to the Strategic Growth Council• Funding from CDPH, The California Endowment and Kaiser

Permanente Community Benefit

Process:• Facilitated by CDPH, in partnership with PHI • Consensus decision-making• Focus on co-benefits

HiAP Task Force alignment with

CHP1.1 Facilitate common understanding of health and mental health equity and the social determinants of health between potential health partner agencies and organizations

• HiAP Task Force quarterly meetings to engage diverse state agencies in developing collaborative approaches to promoting health, equity, and sustainability

• HiAP Task Force collaborative learning sessions on health equity and social determinants of health

IHP1.1 Use a Health in All Policies approach to embed health and mental health equity criteria in decision making, grant programs, guidance documents, and strategic plans.

HiAP Task Force is engaged in:• Caltrans Active Transportation Program grants• SGC Affordable Housing and Sustainability Community grants• California Transportation Commission Regional Transportation

Guidelines• Office of Planning and Research General Plan Guidelines• Governor Environmental Goals and Policy Report• OHE Strategic Plan• CDPH Strategic Plan

CB1&2.2 Strengthen the health and mental health equity workforce development pipeline by utilizing fellows and interns in the implementation of the strategic priorities, throughout the Plan’s multiple partners.

• HiAP staff provide frequent informational interviews and presentations to public health students.

• The HiAP staff team typically supports at least one student intern or graduate fellow each year.

• HiAP staff have placed interns within partner government agencies including Office of Planning and Research (OPR) and Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).

HiAP Task Force: Active Transportation

These will be presented to the SGC on October 6th:

• 2012-2014 HiAP Task Force Active Transportation Action Report: A summary of outcomes accomplished through the 2012 Active Transportation Implementation Plan.

• 2014-2016 HiAP Task Force Active Transportation Action Plan: Represents the HiAP Task Force’s renewed commitment to Active Transportation, including a new work plan of objectives and activities and accompanying narrative.
