Thank you for a wonderful No Name-Calling Week. This year, things were a little more “low key” to allow time for our student bullying lessons this month. However, we did have a morning message and great creative expression contest projects!
I appreciate the work you did, encouraging our students to participate in the contest. Hopefully, the number of entries will continue to grow, year after year!
Thank you for being a fabulous staff. Enjoy this month’s newsletter!
Have a great February!
Marissa Rex

Stop Cyberbullying is a place where teachers, parents, and students can go to learn more about
cyberbullying, a fast-growing (and often, according to contemporary research, more
detrimental) form of bullying.
There is an educator section, parent section, and multiple student sections based on age—there
is a 7-10 category as well as 11-13 and 14-17. Student can also take a quiz to learn more about
their behaviors, such as whether or not their actions could be considered cyberbullying.
Also, Stop Cyberbullying includes
information about the legal side of these
negative behaviors. For example, it
explains how to determine when
cyberbullying is occurring and therefore,
helps establish what consequence should
be given.

Need some good test taking tips?! You’ve come to the right place.
Here is one helpful strategy to teach your students and yourself!
Tip: What to eat (and what NOT to eat) As you may have guessed, sugar is a bad thing to eat before a test. Sugar substitutes, like what you
would find in diet soda, are even worse. Both decrease your productivity and make memory recall
more difficult. Also, if you want a sandwich, avoid turkey—you will get tired fairly quickly.
Be sure to have a balanced breakfast before a test, consisting of healthy carbohydrates and ideally
some fruits and/or vegetables. Also, lemon, peppermint, and cinnamon are great flavors to include
because they boost your memory. Studying while smelling and/or ingesting those flavors will help as
well—then, when you take the test, you can suck on a lemon, peppermint, or cinnamon mint/hard
candy and improve your test performance.
