The Azure™ Digi-Motor® from MARS is a high efficiency variable speed direct driveblower motor for a multitude of applications. Azure™ is a replacement for both standardPSC and Genteq X-13 motors. Two motors cover ratings from 1/5 HP to 1 HP at 115V or 230V and CW or CCW.

Azure™ features an auto sizing learn mode. In start-up learn mode, Azure™ runs or approximately 2 minutes measuring the external static pressure of the systemapplication. Azure™ then assigns torque values to each of its speed taps self-programming itself to the correct horsepower for the application.

If none of the four speeds provides perfect airflow for the application or if duplicatespeeds are desired on 2 or more taps, an optional hand held programmer (MARS No.08502) can be used. The programmer connects to Azure™ and displays the percentageof torque applied to the speed tap being energized. The percentage (motor speed) canthen be increased or decreased and permanently set with the programmer. This tooloverrides the motor torques established in the auto sizing mode.

Unlike other electronically commutated motors, an outboard surge protector is includedwithin Azure’s™ wire harness. This is a replaceable device (MARS No. 08593).

Although the motorperforms an auto sizing function that will correctly assigntorque to each of the speed taps for the installedapplication, there may be instances when customspeeds are desired.

760-ECM Motor Speed ControllerThe 760-ECM motor speed controller is designed to provide manually adjustable proportional speed control for all sizes andvoltages of ECM DC Brushless motors.

Manual speed control is accomplished by adjusting the control pot in the clock-wise direction to increase motor speed. Adjustingthe pot in the counter clockwise direction will slow down and eventually stop the motor as the PWM signal is removed.

The 760-ECM is line voltage independent and requires only a 24VAC supply. This unit is fully enclosed and can be mounted instandard electrical boxes.

792-ECM Motor Speed ControllerThe 792-ECM (Vma) motor speed controller is designed to provide both continuously variable and/or manually adjustable proportionalspeed control for all sizes and voltages of ECM DC Brushless motors. The 792-ECM (VmA) controller also includes an output to“enable” operation of ECM motors that require such a signal for operation.

Continuously variable speed control is accomplished via 2-10VDC or 4-20mA input signal to the control. This controller providesa linear increase of the output as the input signal increases over the 2-10VDC or 4-20mA span.

Manual Speed Control is accomplished by adjusting the control pot in the clock-wise direction to increase motor speed.Adjusting the pot in the counter clock-wise direction will slow down and eventually stop the motor as the PWM signal is removed.

The two control methods may be used together by manually setting a minimum speed for the motor to always maintain,regardless of input signal. When the input signal exceeds the level set manually, full variable speed control is resumed as longas the input is above the manually set level.

Elco Hi Efficiency ECM motors are drop in replacementsof the traditional front mount shaded pole motors. Theyuse all the same accessories with no extra work for aneasy and hassle-free installation. These are built withECM technology to run more efficiently, reduced CO2

emissions, longer life expectancy and quieter than thenormal PSC shaded pole motors. They offer better airflowcontrol than a PSC, up to 70%, 4 to 5 times more efficientthan a regular shaded pole motor. Higher efficiencymeans cooler motor operation and reduced heatdelivered to the refrigeration cycle, for a combined energysaving advantage and improved refrigeration quality. The Evaporator Fan Controllers are developed for use in walk-in coolers andfreezers. The fans in the evaporator boxes run at normal speed at all times,even if the thermostat is not calling for a cooling cycle. To save money, theEvaporator Fan Controllers monitor the temperature on both the intake andexhaust of the evaporator fan unit: 1. Evaporator fan speed is reduced.

2. Cooling or compressor “runtime” is reduced.• When the temperature of the exhaust is lower than that of the intake, thefans will run at normal speed.

• When the temperature of the exhaust is equal to the intake temperaturehowever, the Evaporator Fan Controllers will reduce the speed of the fansto save energy, significantly reducing energy costs.

When the compressor turns back on to meet thermostat requirements, theEvaporator Fan Controllers will then once again return the fans to normalspeed. This temperature monitoring and fan speed control allows for energysavings without an impact on the overall temperature of the cooler or freezer.

2 Speed Evaporator Fan Controller



The MARS 2 speed ARKTIC evaporator fan controller is acomplementary technology for ECM 2 speed motors. By implementingthe controller, the ECM motor will automatically adjust RPM betweenhigh and low speed operation. During low speed operations, thecontroller enables significant (additional) energy savings (typically up to92%) of the EC motor power draw. Low speed operation is during thosetimes where walk in case is at temperature, refrigerant is not requiredand compressor is not operating. Industry average indicates this portionof the duty cycle to be approx 50%. In addition to significant energysavings, the addition of the controller reduces EC motor heat gain up to 90%. The superior design allows for a single control unit to control up to 15ECM motors within typical walk-in coolers and freezers. Installation ofthis technology is recommended simultaneously during walk in ECM 2speed motor retrofit procedures.
